I’m sure the Jacksonville Jaguars would love the new face of their franchise.
It doesn’t matter which team took Tebow off the Broncos' hands; the only thing that matters would be that the Broncos successfully got out from underneath the media circus that is Tebowmania.
While the attention surround the signing of Manning would create its own chaos, there is a far better chance that Manning wins the Broncos a Super Bowl in the next three years than Tebow.
The Broncos may be considered the longest of long shots to sign Manning, a surefire Hall of Fame quarterback who is expected to have at least six other teams pursue him despite his significant health risk. But the Broncos are expected to place a phone call to Manning's agent, Tom Condon, to gauge their chances, according to an NFL source close to the situation. If Manning's contract can be structured so that the team would be protected in case Manning's troublesome neck becomes an issue, the Broncos could well be players.
Despite all the question marks that surround Manning, he is a far better quarterback than Tebow will ever be. With the strong zone-blocking scheme they have in Denver, Manning would have the time to make the plays he needs.
With the way Denver is currently built, Manning could achieve the numbers Tebow had last season in his sleep. Or with a broken neck.
Manning would work with the offense to improve at the skill positions and John Fox would have his running schemes humming like a machine. Add in their potent defense that got them as far as they did last season, and the Broncos could be a serious contender.
So, what do you do with Tebow?
Since it’s obvious that the Broncos really don’t want him, signing Manning would be the perfect cover to use in trading the former Florida Gators star away. Whether it be Jacksonville or another team, as long as he is off the Broncos’ plate, it’s a solid move.
As long as the Broncos get Manning, they don’t need Tebow.
