College Football Recruiting 2013: The Top Quarterbacks in the Rivals 100
We all take a look at the top QBs every year, whether it's the NFL draft, the college football season or, of course, college football recruiting. It's the most glamorous yet demanding position in all of sports, but it's also the most crucial.
With Rivals releasing its top 100 recently, I've decided to take a look at the top QB prospects inside the top 100 list.
Without further wait, here are the top QBs inside the Rivals 100.
6. Johnathon McCrary
1 of 6McCrary is a 6'3", 180-pound QB from Georgia that has over 5,000 total yards the past two seasons. He's a dual-threat type of QB that can kill a defense with his arm and legs.
McCrary, ranked 80th overall in the Rivals 100, has solid arm strength and can attack deep, roll/sprint out and be used on boots and wiggles.
He's committed to Vanderbilt and will be the headliner for James Franklin's 2013 class.
5. Troy Williams
2 of 6Ranked 71st in the Rivals 100, Troy Williams is a 6'0", 173-pound QB that can facilitate the football well from the pocket. He tossed for over 3,000 yards and 34 TDs as a junior.
Hailing from the greater Los Angeles area, Williams has a light frame, but he can fit the football to all three levels. He also flashes the ability to dazzle a defense with his speed as a runner.
Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA are some of his early offers.
4. Ryan Burns
3 of 6A Virginia native, Ryan Burns could be the most underrated QB on this list. He can spin it with the best of 'em, as the 6'5", 220-pounder can see over the rush, get the ball downfield with velocity and attack outside the numbers.
He's got a solid delivery, makes good decisions and flashes good accuracy.
Burns is committed to Stanford and is ranked No. 47 in the Rivals 100.
3. Shane Morris
4 of 6Rivals lists Morris at 6'3", 183 pounds and ranks him No. 16 overall. The Michigan native and Wolverine commit is a southpaw with a solid arm to make all the throws.
He shows good athleticism to escape the rush, buy time and make a play when things break down. In his drops, Morris flashes the ability to get away from center quickly, keep his eyes downfield and set up in a flash to get the football to his target.
2. Tyrone Swoopes
5 of 6Don't tell me Swoopes isn't a dual-threat QB. He rushed for over 2,000 yards last year with 29 TDs as a QB. He also tossed for over 1,300 yards and 15 scores through the air.
Ranked No. 11 overall and labeled a 5-star prospect, Swoopes is committed to Texas. With some seasoning, refinement to his field vision and more development as a passer, the sky's the limit for Swoopes in Austin.
1. Max Browne
6 of 6Browne is the top QB on the board according to Rivals, as he sits No. 8 overall. He's a Washington native and tossed for over 4,000 yards with 45 TDs as a junior.
At 6'5" and 202 pounds, he has an effortless delivery and release, good touch, arm strength and accuracy. Browne's frame will tack on another 15 pounds easily in college, and he should be a starter early in his career.
Alabama, USC, Auburn, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are in the mix.
