College Football Recruiting 2013: Robert Nkemdiche Is No.1 in the Rivals 100
Rivals has recently named its top player and prospect for the 2013 class, and to almost no surprise, it's Robert Nkemdiche of Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga.
For this read, I decided to take an extensive and detailed look at the nation's No. 1 overall prospect, as we will be covering his recruitment frequently, fluidly and endlessly for the duration of this 2013 recruiting cycle.
So come on in and get to know Robert Nkemdiche, the No. 1 college football prospect in the land according to Rivals.
Who Is Robert Nkemdiche?
1 of 5Hailing from Georgia, Nkemdiche is a defensive line prospect from Grayson High School. He's been on the radar since his sophomore year, when he more than held his own against older players in the camps and combines circuit.
The brother of Ole Miss defensive back Denzel Nkemdiche, Robert also plays RB for his prep team, rushing for over 500 yards and scoring 17 TDs.
As a defensive lineman, Nkemdiche notched 78 total tackles, 36 TFLs and 18 sacks.
Robert Nkemdiche Scouting Report
2 of 5First of all, on the hoof alone, Nkemdiche is impressive. He's 6'5", 270 pounds, and his frame is chiseled. You pop on the tape and he wows you.
Nkemdiche flies off the ball at the snap, showing great quickness and explosion. He's uber-powerful, as he can walk blockers back to the QB, can convert speed-power, has strength to muscle through double-teams and can anchor with ease against the run.
After he defeats his blocker, Nkemdiche has the burst, intensity, fight to pressure, speed and tenacity to finish on the QB as a pass-rusher. Against the run, he can hawk ball-carriers down in pursuit, has great play range, locates well and can chase down from the backside.
He needs to work on his pass-rush plan, hand usage and continuing to refine his technique.
Who's Recruiting Robert Nkemdiche?
3 of 5Nkemdiche has offers from just about everyone, ranging from Alabama to USC, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Auburn and more.
If your favorite program hasn't offered him, the recruiting coordinator likely should be fired immediately. Nkemdiche is a prime prospect with an impressive list of offers and has a ton of options.
Who's in His Top Five?
4 of 5In no specific order, Nkemdiche lists a top five of Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss and Clemson.
His brother Denzel plays for the Rebels, so Ole Miss will be in it until the end. He's a Georgia native, so UGA will do all it can to keep him home.
LSU and Clemson will recruit him hard, but speculation persists that indeed Alabama is the leader and/or favorite.
The other schools will stay on Nkemdiche hard, but watch out for the Crimson Tide.
Conclusion
5 of 5So there you have it, folks—there's a fine look at Robert Nkemdiche, the nation's No. 1 player. Yes, I believe he's in the same breath as Jadeveon Clowney, Mario Edwards and Noah Spence.
Nkemdiche has a chance to be special. His size could see him grow into a DT, but his athleticism could indeed allow him to be a JACK LB in a 3-4 scheme.
Look for him to be a prime-time prospect until he makes his decision, which may not be until national signing day.
