2012 NFL Draft: Trent Richardson Scouting Report
Season Stats: 283 rushing attempts, 1,679 yards, 21 touchdowns.
College: Alabama (21 years old).
Height: 5'11".
Weight: 224 pounds.
NFL Comparison: Steven Jackson.
Awards: 2011 Doak Walker Award winner, 2011 Consensus All-American, 2009-2011 BCS National Championship winner.
Overview: Richardson is regarded by most analysts as the best running back in this year's draft. He couldn't participate at the combine due to a knee injury sustained in practice leading up to the BCS national championship game versus LSU. Despite this, Richardson still is projected to be a top-10 pick, as many scouts are impressed by his combination of power and speed.
In terms of strengths and weaknesses, Richardson is solid in almost all aspects of his game. Great vision and agility are just some of his strengths, but it's his power that has scouts raving the most. This allows him to burst past most tacklers. His lower body strength is amazing, as shown by his ability to squat almost 700 pounds.
If I had to highlight one weakness, it would be his ability as a receiver out of the backfield. Don't expect to see him make many catches during his rookie season.
Ranking by Draft Analysts: Mike Mayock, No. 1 RB; Matt Miller, No. 1 RBl; Mel Kiper Jr., No. 1 RB.
Projected Pick: Top 10.
Possible Teams: Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Washington Redskins.
