Ray Allen Trade Rumors Tracker: Latest Updates on Celtics SG

Jun 7, 2018

With the NBA's trade deadline fast approaching, one of the key storylines is whether the Boston Celtics will go into fire sale mode.

Some big names have been rumored to be on the block in Boston; Ray Allen is one of them. His name has surfaced in several trade rumors in recent weeks, and it's easy to see why. Just about every team in the league would love to have an elite shooter like Allen for the stretch run.

Exactly how realistic these rumors are is hard to judge, but there doesn't seem to be any end to them. To stay on top of all the Allen trade rumors, check back here periodically for updates.

The Boston Celtics are making one final push in the Big Three era as Fox Sports Ohio’s Sam Amico has confirmed that Ray Allen will remain with his team.

Boston GM Danny Ainge declined to make any moves at the deadline despite an aging roster that has been decimated by injury.

They must believe they still have a chance to gut out one more title run and want Ray Allen to be a part of it.

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, there are a number of contending teams interested in acquiring Ray Allen before the trade deadline in a little over an hour.

Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge is clearly waiting for a team to panic and pull the trigger on a deal that would land his squad a young player and a 2012 first-rounder.

As reported earlier (scroll down), Ainge offered Jesus Shuttlesworth to the Pacers for Tyler Hansbrough and a first but former teammate and Pacers president Larry Bird declined.

Keep it tuned here until 3 p.m. EST to see if another team will roll the dice and make a splash by going all in with Ray Allen.

The Boston Celtics apparently offered Ray Allen to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Tyler "Psycho T" Hansbrough and a first-round draft pick, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of NECN.com.

The Pacers soundly rejected it and former Celtics legend and current Pacers President Larry Bird was quoted as saying "If that's the value Danny's putting on Ray, he ain't getting it."

Indiana proved Boston was seriously asking too much by going out and trading with the Raptors for Leandro Barbosa to fill their need at the two guard, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Its likely many other teams around the league believe that Allen and his expiring contract are not worth a first-round draft pick from the loaded 2012 class.

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 6 at 4:30 p.m. EST by Zachary D. Rymer

There have been several trade rumors regarding Allen recently, but it doesn't sound very likely that he'll actually be moved.

Over the weekend, Sam Amick of SI.com reported that the Celtics have put a rather high price tag on Allen. Amick says the Los Angeles Clippers are (or were) interested, but doing business with the Celtics for Allen would be tricky because the Celtics are looking for "a package that includes a young talent and a draft pick." That's a lot to ask for.

It also sounds like the Celtics are in no hurry to trade Rondo. Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald has reported that there "just hasn’t been much call" for Allen or the other two members of the Big Three.

Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD's latest report makes it sound like the Celtics are merely leaving their options open when it comes to Allen:

"

The Boston Celtics aren't actively shopping Ray Allen, but they're "accepting calls," according to one executive.

If so, the message to other teams is clear: If you want Allen, make us an offer we can't refuse.

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking down to the March 15th trade deadline.
