Tyson Chandler Injury: Updates on Knicks Star's Wrist Injury

Gabe ZaldivarJun 6, 2018

The New York Knicks are trying to continue the wealth of good will they built prior to the All-Star break. Much of that depends on Tyson Chandler, a big man dealing with a multitude of injuries right now.

Calvin Watkins of ESPN New York reports that Knicks center Tyson Chandler is dealing with a lingering wrist injury:

"

Former Dallas Mavericks and current New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler will get his NBA championship ring prior to Tuesday's game, but he won't be 100 percent when he's on the court.

Chandler continues to get treatment on his left wrist, and Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni offered a glimpse into the injury before Tuesday's shootaround.

The injury continues to plague the big man with soreness. Chandler had an MRI last week and will continue to play with a protective pad.

Head coach Mike D'Antoni had this to say, per the report: "I don't know if there's anything specific other than just some stress reactions on the bone. Just sore, nothing that won't heal, but something that will be sore for about a month."

The report issues that Chandler shouldn't have to miss any games because of the injury, but he will no doubt be affected by a nagging injury that may linger for a few weeks.

Howard Beck of The New York Times writes the following on Chandler: "Knicks center Tyson Chandler is coping with multiple injuries to his left hand and wrist and will probably be playing through pain for the rest of the season."

Don't expect his wrist to magically get better. Chandler is one of the tougher competitors in the league, and I am fully confident that he will fight through what has to be a frustrating injury.

The Knicks have regressed lately, going 3-4 in the last seven games. They play the defending champion Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.
