ACC Tournament 2012: North Carolina Tar Heels Will Own Conference Tourney

The North Carolina Tar Heels will enjoy a tasty treat that not many get at this time of year. They will have have a cakewalk in the 2012 ACC tournament. 

Granted, this is the season for upsets and shocking results, but there is simply no reason to think any of that will mar North Carolina's season, or their momentum heading into the all-important NCAA tournament. 

The expectation is for North Carolina to handle the ACC field, and to do it handily. Here are several reasons you can expect North Carolina to come out on top after an otherwise exciting weekend of collegiate basketball. 

Star Power

The Tar Heels are not only deep, they are star-studded. They have a few players, any of which can go off for 20 points in a game. 

They are second in the nation in scoring with 82.3 points per game. Players like Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller and John Henson all demand the attention of defenses. 

You can't slack on one player and double on another. There is no cheating the Tar Heels, because you have to play them straight up, and they have far more talent. 

Hunger

The Tar Heels are not about to rest on their 27-4 regular season laurels. This is a team that wants a No. 1 seed badly, and they are not about to leave anything up to chance. 

They should be locks for the coveted prize, but will guarantee it with ACC glory. Look for North Carolina to quickly dispatch a lesser field on their way to the Big Dance. 

Little Things

North Carolina is more than a bunch of marquee players. They are a team that is dedicated to playing the game the right way, and that means a dedication to sharing the ball and hitting the boards. 

The Tar Heels are first in the nation rebounding the ball and fourth in collecting assists. They have a formula of team play that is second to none, and their sacrifice will pay off with an ACC title.
