I wrote the blog below, originally on October 3rd, 2007. Based on recent success, yet again, FOCUS THEORY is alive and kicking.
The idea of focus dates back, I’m sure, to the days of cavemen. However, the phenomenon of “group focus”for a common goal is something you cannot find much research on. It is our goal at FOCUS THEORY to educate the people, create discussion and open up FOCUS to a broader range for the betterment of society.
How it started…
I can only expand on my own knowledge of the basis for FOCUS. Perhaps some of my theorists can further the discussion and give a more complete history. As in most stories, FOCUS THEORY (which we’ll call FT from here on out) starts with a man and an idea.
We’ll call this man Paul and over the years, he has crafted FT, tweaking each and every week to better the good of a varied collection of collegiate and professional sports teams. Whether it be the Jets, Gators or Mets (just to name a few)…it was Paul’s theory that an intense positive focus on gameday would yield successes for his teams.
Given the Jets and Mets, one might immediately put FT to rest. In the words of Lee Corso...Not so fast my friends..
Rather than shoot down FT, failure can open up the question of whether opposing team’s FOCUS was a reason behind our own team’s defeat. Are there other FOCUS THEORISTS out there that have a more developed approach? Much like the depths of outer space and other intelligent life, could there be a more advanced FT that we just don’t know about?
Paul’s strongest argument for FT has been the recent success of University of Florida basketball and football teams. There has been an unusual correlation between an increase of FOCUS from Paul (and several friends) and four recent National Championships.
Paul would regularly check in with others before the games to make sure FOCUS was taking place—something which wasn’t always done in prior years. Yet this increase in acknowledged FOCUS went hand-in-hand with Gator wins and subsequent Championships.
So we are here…now…not only to expand FT, but to also generate a greater FOCUS for the better of our teams. FT participants have the common affiliation with the University of Florida. We will see of expanding FT to a bigger populus of Gator Fans can help lead UF to bigger and better successes.
Time will only tell…
UPDATE! FOCUS THEORY IS WORKING!. Originally this column was written when Florida had won one football championship and two basketball championships. FT has been in full force and working for the betterment of Florida Football. I'm a believer and a practicing Focus Theorist.
