Kyle Lowry Trade Rumors Tracker: Latest Updates on Rockets Star

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

The Houston Rockets have one of the brightest point guards in the business. Kyle Lowry continues to prove he may be the next big thing at point guard, and that has a few teams itching to pry him away. Here is the latest.

Point guards that exact speed, precision and poise in the NBA are few and far between. The Rockets have a hot commodity in Lowry and a possible answer to their need for a superstar player.

The question will be whether they are willing to part with a point guard that is simply solid. Here is the current flock of rumors being bandied about.

Lowry's status on the trading block has taken an interesting turn. Jason Friedman of Rockets.com had the latest scoop:

"

Kyle Lowry diagnosed with bacterial infection. Will stay in NYC hospital til Tuesday then to Houston to continue treatment. Out 2-4 weeks.

If Lowry is going to be out for that long, it's highly unlikely that anyone will be trading for him ahead of Thursday's trade deadline. One obviously hopes that he makes a swift recovery, but this is about as strange as it gets.

Sam Smith of Bulls.com reported back in late February on the interest the Rockets had in parting with Lowry. Up until this point, we have only heard about Houston having a stringent hold on Lowry.

Here is what he writes on the Lakers' Pau Gasol being moved:

"

He probably has the best chance of being traded among the current and former All-Star players...The deal that’s been most speculated is Gasol for Luis Scola and Kyle Lowry. The Rockets are said to be high on Goran Dragic and Jonny Flynn to replace Lowry, and the Lakers desperately need a point guard under Mike Brown’s system. This is a deal, denied for now, that benefits both teams and seems likely to be made.

"

If the Rockets are indeed sold on other point guards to do the job, Lowry is playing his last days in Houston because he is far too valuable in a trade.

Things are bound to evolve as we get closer to the trade deadline. Keep it here for the latest on Kyle Lowry and where he will end the season.
