2012 NFL Mock Draft: Mark Barron and Trent Richardson to Miss Alabama Pro Day

Zach KruseJun 7, 2018

According to Len Pasquarelli of the Sports Xchange, first-round draft prospects Trent Richardson and Mark Barron will miss the University of Alabama's pro day on Wednesday.

Pasquarelli wrote via agent Jimmy Sexton that Richardson is still recovering from the minor knee surgery he underwent before the NFL Combine, and that he'll have a private workout for NFL teams later in March.

He [Richardson] just started running full speed this week (at the API facility in Phoenix), and he's close to be ready, but it's not quite there yet. People should have plenty of time to see him and get a good read.

Meanwhile, Barron had double hernia surgery in the last month and still isn't cleared to begin workouts. Like Richardson, Barron may have a chance at participating in drills later in the month for NFL teams.

Both Richardson and Barron missed the combine in Indianapolis, but the two are still expected to be first-round picks in April.

Richardson (5'9", 228 lbs) is the consensus top running back and could be off the board in the first 10 picks.

Barron (6'1", 213 lbs) has a firm grasp on the No. 1 safety slot despite his injury. In a weak safety class, he could still certainly hear his name called on the first day.

Among the top prospects who will work out at Alabama's pro day on Wednesday are Courtney Upshaw, Dont'a Hightower, Dre Kirkpatrick and William Vlachos. Josh Chapman is still recovering from ACL surgery.
