Tim Tebow: Why Starring on the Bachelor Would Destroy Broncos QB's Reputation

Timothy RappMar 6, 2012

Have you been missing Tim Tebow in this offseason? Have you found yourself saying the following:

Boy, I sure do hope Tebow does something crazy this offseason like agreeing to appear on a reality show where he can pick from a group of women who all want to be his girlfriend so that I would have some new material for when I wanted to make fun of him with my friends.

If you answered "yes" to both of the above, feel free to enjoy this.

Oh, and do I have a rumor for you!

On Monday's Access Hollywood Live, The Bachelor host Chris Harrison had the following Tebow-related exchange with Kit Hoover:

"

“I’ve actually met Tim Tebow. I met him about becoming our next ‘Bachelor,’” Chris told Kit. “I think he’d be a great ‘Bachelor.’”

“Was there any reception on his end?” an excited Kit asked.

“Well, they always say yes, but it never happens,” Chris explained. “He’s a really good guy.”

“Wait, but did he say yes?” Kit pressed.

“He did say yes… but he would never do it,” he continued. “He has a little job called quarterback at least for another year.”

"

So to summarize: Tebow said he would do The Bachelor, but he didn't actually mean it. He was being polite at the time, or joking around, or just blatantly lying for kicks.

Update on March 6th at 11:33 a.m. Tebow tweeted he most assuredly won't be appearing on 'The Bachelor.'

"

Haha rumors can be crazy! Even though I've watched the show before, I'm definitely not gonna be on the Bachelor. #JessePalmer

Somehow, all of this feels like some snarky joke on behalf of Harrison and Barnes, doesn't it?

I mean, if a starting quarterback in the NFL needs to appear on The Bachelor, there's a problem here, right? NFL quarterbacks are supposed to be like real-life stars of The Bachelor, as in, hordes of women are already supposed to have interest.

And do you really think Tebow would ever live this down in the locker room, or worse for him, in Christian circles, where he is immensely popular?

All I'm saying is if Tebow ever appeared on the show the conversations in the more conservative crowds would include words like "harlots" and "Potiphar" and would be really judgmental but nonetheless really bad for Tebow.

So while I sort of doubt Tebow said yes to the notion of appearing on this show in anything less than a sarcastic or joking tone, he would seriously damage his reputation if he ever became The Bachelor.
