SEC Tournament 2012: Players Who Will Give Kentucky the Most Trouble

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Having swept the conference, the Kentucky Wildcats are easily the best team in the SEC.

They should have many problems coasting through the SEC Tournament, but there are a few players that are of concern.

Every team in the SEC knows it has to play to its full potential in order to take down the mighty Wildcats.

This means that some players are going to shine bright, which could easily catch Kentucky off guard.

That being said, here are three players that will give Kentucky the most trouble should they meet in the 2012 SEC Tournament.

Patric Young, Florida

The Wildcats limited Young in their first meeting, but the sophomore big man exploded in their second game against each other.

Young has 21 points and nine rebounds, proving that he can take it to the Wildcats. If he gets more help from his team, the Gators could definitely pull off a big upset.

Of course, that's easier said than done, because Kentucky has thrashed Florida each time. Still, with his big frame, Young can give the Wildcats a tough time.

Should these two teams meet, it won't be until the semifinals, and that will motivate Young to play at his best.

JaMychal Green, Alabama

The only way Green gets a chance to face the Wildcats is if the Crimson Tide win their first-round game against South Carolina (which shouldn't hard), and if they're able to upset Florida.

Alabama was one of a few SEC teams that really gave Kentucky a scare, and it's largely because of Green's skills.

He dropped 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Kentucky. It wouldn't be difficult for the senior forward to do it all over again too.

Green's big body can muscle through the Wildcats down low. He may not get the chance to play against Kentucky, but if he does, Green is going to give the Wildcats hell.

John Jenkins, Vanderbilt

The Commodores are the only team that has truly given the Wildcats a tough test both times they played this season.

While Vanderbilt has a couple players that can really mess with Kentucky, Jenkins is the one that can do the most damage.

The junior guard is a phenomenal shooter, and each time he played against the Wildcats he fared well. Had he hit a few more shots the first time they played, Vanderbilt may have won the game.

Jenkins will be very motivated to take down Kentucky because if they do meet in the SEC Tournament, it won't be until the finals. This is the matchup fans hope to see, and Kentucky will put most of its attention in trying to shut down Jenkins.
