Daily Worst: Lamar Odom's Apology, D-Wade Disappears, Lin Labors

Kelly ScalettaJun 2, 2018

Welcome back to the Daily Worst, where every day we take a look at the worst of the previous days action. Sure, ESPN has their top-10 list, but here we pay disrespect to the most awful of the awful, the horrid of the horrid and laugh at the outright laughable.

As always, no players or teams were hated in the production of this article. They got here the old fashioned way—they earned it.

Worst Footwear

DENVER NUGGETS VS GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS, NBA

This little old lady wasn't planning on having her footwear be put on national television, I'm sure. I'm equally certain that she wasn't planning on having a 280-pound man stepping on top of her foot either. Otherwise I'm sure she might have chosen something in the steel-toe variety.

Click on the 3:01 mark of the video to see her and LeBron experience the "agony of de-feet" at the same time.

Worst Flop

Mo Williams is a pretty notorious flopper anyway, but on the flop-scale, this was just insane. I haven't seen someone move on the ground like that since I was eight years old playing on my slip and slide.

You would think he'd just been hurled to the ground by Shrek the way he went flying back.

Worst Apology

Lamar Odom came back and "apologized" for his absence, either mentally or physically all season long. The thing I take issue with wasn't so much the apology that came before the game, it was the vindication that came afterwards when Odom said

"

You can ask anybody, ask any mechanic who might be going through a divorce, ask any lawyer who might have lost a loved one, I mean we all go through it, it's a part of life. You can either understand or you can judge. You pick.

"

In other words, "I didn't do anything wrong, and you can understand that or "judge" me. If you find fault with the fact that I haven't shown up all season long, then that's your issue not mine."

Here's the deal: You either feel you're right or you feel you're wrong. If you "apologize" and then follow up that apology with a vindication, you are making you're apology a lie.

Worst Game

Before the game I thought that in a lot of ways, Rajon Rondo would be a horrible matchup for Jeremy Lin. He's a tenacious player that gets in your face. Lin tends to make mistakes when he's pressured like that.

I was wrong. Rondo is a horrible matchup for Jeremy Lin in every way. He shredded Lin on the offensive end of the court, having an historic day. Defensively, he held Lin to 14 points on 16 shots, and just five assists compared to six turnovers.

It was pretty apparent that one player on the court was in the elite point guard conversation and the other was not.

Worst Disappearing Act

Did Dwyane Wade's disappearing act come because of the headaches or did the headaches cause the disappearing act? Or maybe it was just Kobe Bryant giving payback the smart way: by shutting him down.

Wade's Game Score was just 7.3, as he scored 16 points on 17 shots and fouled out for the first time in three years.

Daily Awards

We also give out two daily awards here. The Bakers Award goes to the player who commits the most turnovers. Today's recipient is a unique situation—we're going to give it to the New York Knicks point guard tandem of Baron Davis and Jeremy Lin who gave up six turnovers apiece. At least it's an even dozen!

The other award we give out is the Upchuckers award, which goes to the player who misses so many shots it makes you want to puke. This weekend's winner is Rodney Stuckey, who didn't succeed at first, and then tried, tried again. Then he tried, tried again. Then he kept trying.

In all, he missed 16 of his 22 attempts.
