Klitschko vs. Mormeck Results: Easy KO Exposes Sad State of Heavyweight Division

As Wladimir Klitschko floored Jean-Marc Mormeck for the second time, one fact became painfully clear: The state of boxing's heavyweight division is just pitiful.

Of course, this isn't exactly a news flash. For whatever reason, the heavyweight division as a collective has been on the decline for years now. But as the over-matched Mormeck lay sprawling on the canvas, the sad state of the division was thrust in our faces.

Klitschko won by knockout in the fourth round, but this fight was over when it was scheduled back in October. Klitschko defended his selection of Mormeck as an opponent, saying his experience, intelligence and general boxing skills could cause issues. They didn't.

Klitschko was never challenged after the opening bell, dominating Mormeck with ease. He toyed with him in the first couple rounds before knocking him down in the third. In the fourth, he put the finishing touches on the overwhelmed Frenchman.

It was an incredibly easy victory for Klitschko, and the fact that it came as no surprise at all points to the sad state of the division. There's only two top-notch heavyweight fighters these days, and they refuse to fight each other.

Outside of the Klitschko brothers, the heavyweight division is full of scrubs. Tomasz Adamek? Too old. David Haye? A coward. Alexander Povetkin? Not sold.

Unfortunately for fight fans, boxing's heavyweight division is a joke. After Wladimir's laughably easy victory over Mormeck, that fact has never been more clear.
