Liverpool vs Arsenal: Gunners' Big Win Will Propel Them to Champions League

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

The Arsenal Gunners pulled out a hard-fought and well-earned, 2-1, victory against Liverpool on Saturday, and now, they aren't going to let anything keep them from the UEFA Champions League next year.

Arsenal has Robin van Persie to thank for this win. He scored both of the Gunners' goals in this one, and the second one came late.

The match was knotted as the game entered into injury time. It is then that van Persie netted the game winner. This was an impressive and unlikely win.

This was Liverpool's first loss in their 13 EPL home games this season.

It was also a major step for Arsenal. The Gunners are fourth in the EPL table—the last place that will guarantee them a Champions League birth. They are currently four points behind Tottenham and three ahead of Chelsea

The Gunners are in a very favorable position for the remainder of this campaign.

They have just one match remaining against a team ahead of them in the table, and that game—against Manchester City—will be at home.

They also have a match against the team directly behind them, Chelsea, and that match will be at home also.

The Gunners have now won four straight EPL matches. Their confidence is soaring, and this latest win will only push that confidence to new heights.

They will keep that momentum rolling, and they will not fall further than fourth in the table.
