Aqueduct Racetrack: Grade 3 Gotham

Joseph CiracoJun 7, 2018

The morning line favorite in the Grade Three Gotham is Hansen, who will have top New York jockey Ramon Dominguez aboard. Despite being 6-5, I don't think this talented three-year-old is the horse to beat.

Hansen has three wins in four career starts and appears to be the main speed in the featured race today at Aqueduct, but I'm going to pick against him.

I really like My Adonis, who is currently 5-1. This Kelly-Breen-trained horse finished behind Hansen in his last race, but he stumbled at that start and will like the added distance from that race.

I'm intrigued by Stealcase, who is trained by Mark Casse. This lightly raced horse is coming off an impressive win on January 19th, when he stalked a moderate pace and won going away. At 15-1, I like this horse in all exotic wagering.

At 15-1, Raconteur is a great value and bet. This Todd Pletcher horse has Cornelio Velasquez aboard and likes the inner track at Aqueduct and the distance. This improving horse has won two in a row and should be a major factor in the stretch.

King and Crusader will be a factor in this race, but I don't see him finishing strong. This is the horse that should push Hansen early and with a win on an off track, I don't him faltering until the top of the stretch.

In the end, I like Raconteur to pull off a big upset in this $400,000 race. I like My Adonis and Hansen to run well but come up short. The track should be muddy at Aqueduct and Raconteur has great pedigree for the off track.
