Fantasy Basketball: Rodrigue Beaubois Heating Up
After back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts, Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois earned a start Friday night.
He made the most of his opportunity, hitting 11-of-17 shots, including 2-of-4 from downtown, and his only free throw to finish with 25 points in Dallas' loss to New Orleans.
Beaubois also collected two rebounds, dished out three assists and tied a career-high with four steals. With a performance like that, heavy minutes should continue to come his way.
His recent hot streak gives Rodrigue an average of 17.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.0 three-pointer over his past three games while shooting 48.8 percent from the field, 27.3 percent from the floor and a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.
Beaubois is owned in 8.7 percent of ESPN and 16.0 percent of Yahoo! leagues. He has point guard and shooting guard eligibility, making him a more attractive option given his positional flexibility.
There are some downsides to Beaubois though. Dallas is a very deep team. When Delonte West returns from his finger injury, he could cut into Rodrigue's minutes. In the short-term though, you should be safe.
You also don't know how Beaubois will hold up to the heavy minutes, especially in this condensed season. He has played in just 111 games in his three years in the league, making 48 starts. He has averaged 15.5 minutes per game during his career. Although that is also not something to worry about in the short term.
If you have a roster spot open and need some guard play, give Beaubois a shot.
