Impact Wrestling: Austin Aries Should Be Featured in the Main Event More Often
TNA Impact finally got it right last night. In a stroke of genius, the powers at be (Sting) put Austin Aries in the main event.
Congratulations for moving forward.
While there wasn’t more of a feel to the main event other than six wrestlers in a match where we may have been given a glimpse of James Storm and Bobby Roode, it is a testament to TNA for putting a showstopper like Aries somewhere other than in the middle of the show he is being wasted.
Give this man a shot at the Television Title, please.
Aries is electricity.
Aries is action.
Aries is a little Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko all in one.
And that is just the start.
In the future, there could be more.
While we want to see James Storm and Bobby Roode (although the creative team waited too long for this to happen), Aries against Storm or Roode or maybe AJ Styles provides for a nice change of pace.
Personally, I like the idea of Aries in a match with Jeff Hardy.
TNA has worked hard this year so far to give fans more to cheer about, with more concentration on the TNA World Title and more than one challenger at a time. It has also placed a great emphasis on the Knockouts and the idea again that “Wrestling Matters”.
What I don’t want to see is something like Bully Ray coming in and interfering with each match until he gets a title shot with his “good friend” Bobby Roode.
Enough already and have that angle come to a point.
Aries, on the other hand, can be as versatile with anyone.
He has proven that against Zema Ion, Kid Kash and Alex Shelley. But in the X Division, he is limited in showing what he can really accomplish in this promotion.
Wrestlers like AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero have all moved from working in cruiserweights to become world champions. Aries falls in that same category and deserves to have the same opportunity.
As TNA tries to move forward even more (sans Vince Russo), maybe branching out more is the way to go.
The most charismatic character in the company should be leading the way.
