Why Tim Tebow Will Play QB in the NFL!

Joe Burgett Jan 9, 2009

We all saw it last night. Tim Tebow led the Florida Gators to the National Championship. Tebow won his first as a starter, and second total in three years. He has won a Heisman and anything you possibly could think to win as a QB.

But will he play QB at the next level? Well, it may be hard to say for sure, but I'll give you a few reasons why he will.

First off, no Heisman-winning QB who has switched to another position has done well in the NFL. Think about that—not one has. Putting Tebow as a fullback or tight end is crazy to think about.

See, Tebow keeps his promises too. After the Ole Miss game they lost, he came out and made his infamous speech, saying, "You will see no team play as hard as we will, and you will see no one play as hard as I will for the rest of this season. God Bless"

It sounded good, woo. And we thought, "Cool, impressive speech" after he said it. But we had no idea he would actually deliver. He played well too—until the National Title game, he only threw two INTs.

Stafford, Bradford, Harrell, and all the other top QBs projected in the NFL draft threw more than that in that time period. So he didn't make many mistakes, and he delivered on his promise.

I thought he would win the Heisman for a while because he played so well. But he lost it to Bradford. Then he really caught my eye, as if he could more, in the SEC Title game.

He beat my Alabama Crimson Tide, and although I was upset, I knew that when he beat us—and I am saying he because Tebow was the Florida offense—I knew he would be a superstar even more than he already was.

See, Bama was ahead by three going into the fourth quarter, and Tebow led the Gators back into the game, and they ended up scoring a few times and beating Alabama.

We saw the paint all over Tebow, which is probably the most famous picture of him now. But I will always remember him scoring against Alabama a few times in the fourth quarter.

Then just to show it was not a coincidence, he did it again. He led the Gators past the Sooners last night in the National Title game. And when did it he do it? The fourth quarter, of course.

If you have a guy who can show up and play his best in the fourth, you have a great player.

I feel Tebow should stay another year to shore up his passing ability. And sure, he could go in the NFL Draft this year. But if he does, he will not get respected by the NFL guys out there.

He could be great as a QB, then they want him to be a FB, and he is out of the NFL in a few years.

He is a great leader. I have never seen any better in college football history. Not one ever. Do you know how many there have been? There was Vince Young, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and others.

Tebow is the best. Look, guys like Michael Vick played QB in the NFL and did well. Forget the off the field stuff. He was a good runner and not nearly as good of a passer as Tebow is.

Yet he played QB. Scramblers like Steve Young and others didn't do well their first time as a starter, but they ended up getting very good, as you know. Now Young was not as much of a scrambler as Vick was, but you know what I mean.

I feel if Tebow stays at Florida for another year, even if he has to take a ballroom dance class, it will be the best for him. He can make his passing get even better and add more hardware to his trophy case.

He already is one of the top five best college football players ever. So another year could get him another National Title and prove that he can play at the next level. How can you doubt a guy with three National Titles and possibly two Heismans?

You can't. So Tebow coming out this year may not be best. If he does he will go in the second, probably the third round—unless he has a great combine of course.

If Tebow plays TE or FB, we will not see the best he can be. Yes, he runs well, but like Tebow said, you can make more of an impact when you have the ball more. At QB you have the ball the most.

Tebow needs the ball most of the time. Teams in the NFL that lack leadership, such as the Lions, Raiders, Chiefs, and others need a guy like Tim Tebow. He could bring them back to the forefront.

Teams with leaders, like the Patriots, Colts, Giants, and others, are the ones in the playoffs and Super Bowls ever year. With Tebow, a team could get there almost every year.

This is why Tim Tebow will be an NFL QB

What do you think—will Tebow ever play QB at the next level?
