Thunder vs. Magic Video: Watch Highlights of Kevin Durant's MVP Performance

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Kevin Durant is a monster on the court, and his performance on Wednesday night helped lift the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Orlando Magic

With Dwight Howard going nuts for Orlando, Durant needed to step up in a big way, and he did not disappoint. Oklahoma City won 105-102, and the main reason for the victory was because Durant scored 18 fourth-quarter points.

The Thunder's best player, and arguably the best in the NBA, dropped 38 points on the night, which is the second-highest total he's scored this season. The first came a few weeks ago when he put up 51 points in an overtime win against the Denver Nuggets

Russell Westbrook dished out 10 assists, which was another reason Durant was able to score so much. He was getting good looks from everyone on his team, and he did his best to knock everything down.

What's crazy is that Durant could have scored even more, as he was just 12-of-21 from the field. Perhaps the best stat line for him on the night was that he was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Oklahoma City currently has the best record in the league, but the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls are right behind them. They're only half a game out, but the closest Western Conference team is the San Antonio Spurs, who are four and a half games back.

The Thunder have also built a substantial lead in the Northwest Division. They're 10 games ahead of the Nuggets, and since the Thunder don't appear to be slowing down anytime soon, the league should just go ahead and name them division champs.

While there is a lot of basketball left to be played, the Thunder will constantly be a difficult team to beat. Durant is a big reason why, as he consistently plays at a level so few are on, making him one of the best, if not the best player in the league.
