2012 NBA Draft: Early Nets' Mock Draft

Maxwell OgdenJun 2, 2018

While the NBA Season is just halfway through, the Nets' focus is drifting closer to the offseason than the playoffs. With the NBA Draft just three months away and with the Nets possessing two first-round draft picks, it may be time for the Nets to start planning.

While Brooklyn's newest babies are set for something big in free agency, there's no denying the value of the draft. There are a handful of players who fit the Nets' needs, but with their current crop of picks, none fit them better than these...

Round 1, Pick 4: Thomas Robinson, Power Forward, Kansas Jayhawks

1 of 3

Of all the big men in the draft, none fit the Nets better than Thomas Robinson.

Robinson is a grind-it-out post player who attacks both the rim and the glass. His shot blocking is improving, his work ethic is never questioned and he's a very passionate leader on the court. While Anthony Davis may be more skilled, there's no one who could benefit the Nets more than Thomas Robinson.

He's the perfect offensive compliment to Kris Humphries at the 4, as well as a great side-by-side fit with Brook Lopez. Together, the Nets would have an elite combination of big men who, together, can score big, dominate the glass and defend.

Round 1, Pick 19 (from Houston): Terrence Jones, Forward, Kentucky Wildcats

2 of 3

Terrence Jones is a top-five talent who has seen a major drop in draft stock because of his fellow teammates' success.

As Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist draw the major attention, Jones is the Wildcat who has played against a high level of competition for two years running.

He has a variety of ways to score, has a big body and is capable of shutting players down while on the defensive end of the floor. He's a guy who shouldn't fall this far, but according to most big boards, will.

Round 2, Pick 59: Tyshawn Taylor, Point Guard, Kansas Jayhawks

3 of 3

Not only is Tyshawn Taylor the current teammate of Thomas Robinson, but he's an underrated point guard who could do for the Nets what Isaiah Thomas is doing for the Kings.

His draft stock is likely to skyrocket upon the Jayhawks' pending success in the NCAA Tournament, but as long as his stock is low, he's the perfect fit at this pick.
