Penn State Football Recruiting: Ross Douglas Commits to the Nittany Lions

Ian HanfordJun 7, 2018

The Penn State Nittany Lions locked down 4-star cornerback Ross Douglas on Wednesday.

Douglas is Penn State's second commitment in as many days with 4-star quarterback Christian Hackenberg verbally committing to Penn State as well.

The Nittany Lions have made a major mark on the 2013 recruiting trail in a short time. Hackenberg was major news because of the position he plays, but Douglas is a great snag as well.

Douglas played both ways in high school and is an excellent athlete. He runs a 4.4 40-yard dash and is projected as an above average two-way corner. He stands 5'10'', but he has a tough reputation on the line of scrimmage as a run stopper.

Nittany Lion fans could see Douglas play offense as well a la Chaz Powell. He ran for over 700 yards and nine touchdowns as a running back in 2010. His versatility will be a welcome addition to Penn State's team over the course of his career.

Douglas announced his commitment via Facebook. He attended Junior Day in mid-February, and was reportedly blown away by his visit to Happy Valley.

Perhaps the sweetest part of this recruiting equation is Douglas' home state, Ohio. Penn State lost several commitments to Ohio State from their 2012 recruiting class. Stealing Douglas from the Buckeyes is a sweet justice for the new Nittany Lion coaching staff and should restore some pride to the program.

Bill O'Brien is on the right track in 2013. Hackenberg was a huge coup, and Douglas adds another reputable name to Penn State's 2013 haul.

It is too early to throw words like "top-five class" around, but Penn State's hot start definitely lends itself to lofty expectations for the coming years.
