Florida and Tim Tebow Thump Oklahoma 24-14 For The BCS Championship!
This is the big one, folks. Hang on to your hats, and pull up a seat. The stage is set. The steak in on the grill, Tequila Rose is chillin, and the Key Lime Pie at halftime is ready to eat.
This should be the best game of the year for college football fans.
8:20 pm—The long awaited kickoff, and the home crowd for Florida is in a frenzy.
For three and a half hours, I will bring you all the highlights and action from this great showcase game. Oklahoma brings a very fast-paced offense that averages 90, yes 90, plays from scrimmage per game.
Florida will have to control the pace to somehow win this game. If anyone can manage this, it would be Tim Tebow, the master of a controlled, deliberate, offense.
Which defense can keep up? That probably will be the one factor in the game that nobody will be quite sure of. The Florida defense is a bit faster, and better than anything the Sooners have seen.
The offense of Oklahoma will test Florida to their limits. This is just going to be some game.
Oklahoma has won the toss and will get the ball first. There goes the kick, and here we go! A run to start, that gains zero. Bradford throws for a first down on the second play.
A long pass by Bradford on first down goes incomplete, as the receiver is leveled. A reverse on second down is met with a defensive front and stopped cold. Bradford hits another nice 20 yard pass for a first down.
First down, no pressure on Bradford, and he throws incomplete. Bradford is sacked on second down. There was some pressure that time, setting up a 3rd-and-24. Bradford completes another one, bit short of the first down, and Florida holds!
Here comes Tebow, starting from the 20 yard line on a touch back. That was good pressure on Bradford in the first defensive series for the Florida Gators.
Tebow makes a good fake, then throws a short pass which is dropped setting up 2nd-and-10. Tebow keeps it after a fake to Harvin and gets a short gain.
Tebow hits Harvin on the run for a nice gain, and a first down. Tebow throws long, and it falls incomplete over his target's head. They are reviewing the previous play, but no one seems to know why.
It was a problem with the game clock. A nice run for Brandon James for nine yards. Everyone's looking for Tebow to get it. Tebow fakes to James, and keeps it for the first down conversion.
Another run, for a one yard loss. 2nd-and-11 to go. A bad pass, and Tebow's intercepted, a rare mistake by Tim Tebow. Oklahoma takes over around mid-field. Tebow waited too long to throw that ball.
Oklahoma starts off with a run for five yards. They run it again and it's close to a first. A third run in a row, and it's first down. A flag is thrown. Dead ball foul and it's 1st-and-10 after they are backed up.
Bradford completes another pass for a first down. A second pass goes incomplete. A short pass is completed and it's 3rd-and-5. A beautiful pass and catch, and it's a first down on the 15, no, it comes back on a holding call.
Oklahoma's tempo is not as fast as it normally is, and it's 3rd-and-15. A short pass, and no first down. Florida dodges a bullet from the interception, and holds Bradford again.
All of a sudden the under is looking very nice, for bettors that thought the defenses would be good! Three offensive series and no scores.
Florida runs the ball a couple of plays and it's third down . Tebow completes one to the tight end for a first down. Harvin breaks a couple of tackles and picks up 14 yards.
This could be the difference in this game: If Harvin gets hot. Tebow slips away from the defense and gets a first down. That was a 10 yard run.
Tebow is pressured that time, and throws it away for 2nd-and-10. A shovel pass to the tight end gets eight yards setting up 3rd-and-2. A big gain down to the 23 of Oklahoma, with pass from Tebow to Hernandez.
Two penalties in a row makes it 1st and 20. That ends the first quarter.
Florida averages 45 points a game, and Oklahoma averages 55, yet we are scoreless.
Florida is in field goal range for the first time in the game, but you know Tebow is not thinking field goal. It's 1st-and-15 from the 28 of Oklahoma.
A pass is tipped, and incomplete, 2nd-and-15. Tebow escapes the blitz and picks up six. Tebow completes the pass for a touchdown on the next play! 7-0, Gators.
So far, it is obvious this is a faster defense than what Oklahoma's been used to. That drive, Tebow marched them down the field, just like all the other games and teams he's faced during the season.
Oklahoma is not playing that fast, hurry up offense we have seen in previous games.
Florida kicks off, and Oklahoma gets nice field position on the return to the 32. Oklahoma gains 16 yards on a run on the very next play. Brown runs it again, and picks up 10 more yards.
Brown hits another big gain, and another first down. Bradford completes a pass down to the seven and it's first and goal. Oklahoma has really picked up the tempo now. It's second and goal. Bradford out of the shotgun and it's a touchdown!
That was really fast. Game is now tied at seven.

Florida gets a celebration penalty after the first down for a 15 yard penalty. Ouch! A short pass to Harvin, after a short running play, and it's 3rd-and-4. Tebow makes a nice pass for another first down.
Two more running plays for short yardage, gets it to third and five. Tebow throws another interception. That hardly ever happens. Two picks for Tebow, is as many as he has had the entire season.
Chris Brown has 73 yards on the ground for Oklahoma already. It's now 1st-and-goal on the 10 for Oklahoma. Brown again for six yards.
No one expected this. Brown all the way to the one for 3rdand-goal. Oh, a huge stop on that run. They go for it on fourth down and Florida stops them cold.
Tebow starts on his own two yard line. If he takes this team 97 yards on this drive, I think Florida will get the emotional boost they need to win this game. Let us see what happens.
5:20 left in the half, as Oklahoma calls a time out. The defenses for both teams are doing a fantastic job so far, keeping each offense in check.
Harvin gets the ball ans scampers 48 yards. Oh my! Right up the middle of the defense. A false start and it's 1st-and-15. Rainey's dropped for a big loss, and it's 2nd-and-19.

Another blitz and the pass falls incomplete. Bradford completes another, and it's first and goal. The last two drives , Bradford has been very efficient. 1st and goal on the six. 10 seconds. Interception on a bouncing ball off the receiver.
It's halftime! Only seven points for each team. That was another big break for the Gators. You have to start wondering about Oklahoma's luck in these bowl encounters of the last few years.
Is Tebow just charmed? The Gators let Oklahoma get down close to the goal line twice, but Oklahoma came up empty! That has to give Florida a spark in the second half! They will start with the ball.
The defenses are playing intensely and much credit must be given to both teams, on stopping key drives.
The pie is tasty, as I await the second half.
This game can only get more intense now, with the close margin, the defense on both teams is bound to get more ferocious considering this is the last game for many of these players.
One big play by either team could be the difference now.
Florida starts at the 28 yard line. Rainey is most likely out for the rest of this game, with a high ankle sprain.
Tebow rushes for no gain to set up 2nd-and-10. A rush by Florida gets four yards and it's 3rd-and-6. Tebow just overthrows Harvin, while under pressure. Florida must punt. Oklahoma takes over at the 11 yard line.
The defense once again, must step up for Florida, and match Oklahoma's stubbornness in giving up yardage.
Brown runs for three yards. He's averaging seven yards a carry. Brown gets hit hard after a five yard gain to set up 3rd-and-2. A short burst and a first down for Oklahoma.
Bradford throws to Iglecias incomplete and it's 2nd down. The reciever drops one after a big hit for 3rd-and-10. Oklahoma must also punt on their first series of the second half.
I am shocked by the lack of scoring by both teams, but especially the fact that the Oklahoma defense, which has given up plenty of points during the season, is holding Tebow and Florida in check.
Did a month off hurt the timing of these offenses? Perhaps so!
Roughing the kicker on Florida. That really hurts, and Oklahoma keeps the ball. They almost blocked the punt, but ran into the kicker.
Oklahoma is stopped twice and it's 3rd-and-10. Bradford will throw and it's incomplete. Oklahoma punts quickly and Florida takes over at their 25 yard line.
The defenses are still dominating this game.
Second drive for the Gators in this half. Tebow gets a completion for a first down. Tebow runs the option and keeps it for 13 big yards and a first down. Demps picks up one yard on the run.
Tebow, on another keeper, gets five yards making it 3rd-and-4 to go. Tebow fakes a throw to the wing, and runs up the middle for 15 more yards and a first down. A pass to the end zone off the receiver's fingertips falls incomplete.
It's 2nd-and-10, and Florida needs something to show for in this drive. A field goal could decide this one, the way it's playing out. Tebow throws up the middle, incomplete.
What a run by Tebow, with pure desire and heart as he getrs 12 more yards; that's enough for the first down. Tebow keeps it again for six yards.
Tebow waits until the last second, then pitches to the back, who takes it to the two, and then gets face-masked; it'll be 1st-and-goal. A run attempt gets nothing. A pass goes incomplete.
Harvin takes the snap and races into the end zone. Touchdown, Gators. 14-7, Florida over Oklahoma.
There is 4:21 left in the third quarter. That was all Tim Tebow.

A screen pass, and it's close to another first down. It's 3rd-and-1 for the Sooners. They are dropped for a loss in the backfield. A field goal attempt from 49 yards is blocked!
That's the ninth blocked kick of the season, and a school record for Florida.
Tebow keeps it and it's 2nd-and-7. Harvin picks up three, and it's 3rd-and-4.
This time Tebow waits to long to take off, and he gets caught. The third quarter ends with Florida up, 14-7 over Oklahoma.
Florida punts to Oklahoma to start the fourth quarter.
Brown runs for three yards and a flag comes in late. Brown is over 100 yards on 19 carries now. There's an unsportsmanlike conduct on Florida. A big gain for Brown on a pass for 25 yards will make a first down.
Brown is stopped after a gain of two that time and it's 2nd-and-10. Bradford takes a shot, and it's incomplete for 3rd-and-8. A 1st down is made on a nice pass. The next play scores for Oklahoma. 14-14. This one's going down to the wire, folks.
12:14 to go in this very good game.
Florida takes trhe ball over on thier own 20 yard line.
Oklahoma has been covering kickoffs extremely well.
Harvin breaks another long run for 52 yards. Wow! Harvin for another 12 yards. Harvin is down! That could be huge with 10 minutes left. Can he go any more on that ankle?
Harvin has 106 yards rushing and 65 yards in receptions. He and Tebow wuth 74 yards, are most of the offensr for Fkorida.
If Harvin can 't go Tebow needs to go somewhere with the ball, as Oklahoma will key on him. Harvin walked off the field, OK, I think.
It's now 2nd-and-6 at the 11 and Tebow throws it out of the endzone, incomplete for 3rd-and-6. Harvin is back in. Tebow throws it away, fourth down. Field goal attempt by Florida...good!
10:45 to go Florida 17, Oklahoma 14.
Oklahoma takes over on the 35 yard line, 1st down. Good field position.
Bradford is in the shotgun, lofts a pass down the sideline, incomplete for 2nd-and-10. They make first down on good protection for Bradford. Brown gains three, 2nd-and-7. Florida intercepts the ball, and that's a big play.
Well, as I predicted after the win by Florida against LSU, the Gators just might win this game now, and that National Title I said they would get.
Tebow shovel passes it up the middle for 10 yards. Demps is stopped at the line of scrimmage, but pushes ahead for two yards to make 2nd-and-8. Tebow keeps it for less than a full yard. Movement by Florida, now it's 3rd and 13.
A pass of 16 yards to Cooper, Tebow's roommate, first down.

Jump pass by Tebow after a run fake, touchdown, Gators. 24-14. Tebow is Superman!
Unreal, how he plays and what he brings to this team. I don't know what Urban Meyer will do when Tebow leaves. He will never find someone to fill his shoes.
3:01 left. Bradford throws incomplete for 2nd-and-10. A screen pass is good for seven yards. Bradford throws incomplete and Oklahoma has to go for it. Incomplete and that's going to do it.
2:26 left and Florida takes over on downs. Tebow keeps it for two yards. Timeout, Oklahoma. They are getting ready to dump Gatorade on Urban Meyer.
Tebow runs for a first down. 1st and 10. 2:09 left to go.
Oklahoma takes its last time out. Turn out the lights, the party is over Oklahoma.
Florida is your BCS National Champion for 2009. Tim Tebow is Superman on cleats.
All is right in Florida tonight. Congratulations, Gators!
