Klitschko vs Mormeck Predictions: Heavyweight Bout Will Be an Embarrassment
Jean-Marc Mormeck has come out and said that he's going to go after Wladimir Klitschko's "glass jaw."
The reality is, it's his own jaw that he has to worry about.
Heading into their heavyweight bout on Saturday, Mormeck told German television RTL, via AFP:
""Klitschko has something that I want and I need to smash his face in order to get it.
"I know that he is not happy getting hit.
"I've already said it and mean it - he has a glass jaw."
"
Klitschko may be 35 years old, but he still has serious knockout power, evidenced by his 49 knockouts in 59 career bouts.
He beat David Haye via unanimous decision in July 2011 in what turned out to be complete domination. It just so happens that Haye beat Mormeck via TKO in their bout in November 2007.
Mormeck has a career record of 36-4 with 22 knockouts, but most of his victories came in the cruiserweight division. He's beaten second-tier heavyweights Vinny Madalone and Fres Oquendo, as well as Timur Ibragimov via split decision in December 2010, but he has yet to face even a top-10 heavyweight.
On top of that, Mormeck is now 39 years old and is a good five years past his prime, when he held the WBA and WBC cruiserweight belts.
Klitschko responded to Mormeck's comments by saying, via AFP:
""I'm going to try to protect my glass chin.
"Best of all by looking at him knocked out."
"
Klitschko is the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion. Haye was no match for him in July.
On top of that, he has a good six inches on Mormeck in height and reach. What makes Mormeck think he can come in and knock off the historic boxer?
It's all talk. Klitschko will assert his dominance early and often en route to a knockout victory.
