TNA Impact Wrestling Preview: A Gauntlet Match, Roode/Sting, Kurt Angle and More

Kyle SchadlerJun 3, 2018

It’s Thursday and that means a new episode of Impact Wrestling!

TNA Wrestling has been heating up over the past few weeks as they continue a string of solid shows.

2012 has so far been a good year for the promotion, and they look to keep the ball rolling as the month of March begins.

TNA has confirmed three matches for the show and what are sure to be two in-ring segments.

Let’s see what they have in store for the fans!

Bobby Roode Addresses His Match with Sting at Victory Road

Bobby Roode has been quite the thorn in the side of Sting. Since he won the TNA World Championship, he has defied the man in charge every step of the way.

The self-proclaimed leader of the Selfish Generation has cheated his way to victory during the majority of his title defenses, and The Icon has tried to punish him every time. Every punishment, though, would backfire on Sting as Roode would weasel his way out of each one.

At Against All Odds this finally boiled over when Roode got to Sting enough that the wrestling legend tried to screw Roode out of the title. He instead accidentally hit Jeff Hardy and Roode retained.

After forcing him to defend the title against Hardy two weeks ago, Roode attacked Sting and The Icon declared that he was done.

Last week, he clarified his statement and booked himself in a match against Roode at Victory Road.

This week, Roode will respond to the challenge laid out by Sting.

According to TNA’s website, Roode is sick of the way Sting runs things and is banding together wrestlers who feel the same way.

What will Bobby Roode have to say to Sting? Will he have any backup?

Zema Ion vs. Shannon Moore

At Against All Odds, Zema Ion became the No. 1 contender for Austin Aries’ X-Division Championship.

Two weeks ago, he teamed with Aries and the two picked up the victory in a tag-team match. There was obvious tension between the two wrestlers as their similar personalities clashed.

Last week, Aries took a front row seat as he scouted his future opponent during a match with Alex Shelley.

As the X-Division champion sat there eating popcorn and drinking wine, Ion defeated the former X-Division and tag-team champion.

This week, Aries will get another chance to scout his opponent as Ion must take on Shannon Moore.

Will Zema Ion keep his momentum by defeating Shannon Moore or will Moore take down the cocky Ion?

Kurt Angle Speaks on Attacking Jeff Hardy

The last time TNA fans saw Kurt Angle was the January 12th edition of Impact Wrestling when he lost a No. 1 contender’s match to James Storm.

Angle has been missing for a month but returned two weeks ago. During a TNA World Championship match between Bobby Roode and Jeff Hardy, the Olympic gold medalist ran in and attacked Hardy, costing him the match.

Last week, Angle got back in the ring when he teamed with Bully Ray to take on the team of Hardy and James Storm.

With some help from New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, Hardy and Storm picked up the win.

This week Angle will explain his actions from two weeks ago.

What will Kurt Angle have to say? Why did he attack Jeff Hardy?

Madison Rayne vs. ODB

Despite being one half of the Knockout’s tag team champions, Madison Rayne has been nothing but a lackey to Knockout’s champion, and her partner, Gail Kim.

Two weeks ago, TNA booked a Knockout’s battle royal to determine Gail’s next challenger. After spending the entire match outside beside her partner, Madison slide in at the last minute to eliminate Velvet Sky and win the match.

Gail was shocked but Madison just smiled.

Last week, she tried to convince Gail that she only won the match to give her true competition. Gail didn’t want to hear it and then went on to defeat ODB.

Post-match, Madison tried celebrating with her but Gail wanted nothing to do with her.

This week, Madison must now contend with ODB as her mind games with Gail continue.

Can Madison Rayne match Gail Kim’s success from last week or will ODB take down the No. 1 contender?

A.J. Styles vs. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian: Gauntlet Match

Fortune was supposed to be a new version of the Four Horsemen, but the group in no way found the success like the Horsemen did.

The group started to implode last year when Christopher Daniels started to once again feud with A.J. Styles.

Beer Money broke away from the group when both were finalists in the Bound for Glory Series, leaving just Styles and Kazarian to represent Fortune.

During the final weeks of 2011, both Styles and Kaz teamed up in the Wild Card Tag Team Tournament. They made it to the finals but Kaz turned on Styles after having a few words with Daniels backstage.

The fans don’t know why Kaz is aligned with Daniels; all we know is that Daniels is holding something over him, and Styles wants to know what.

After costing him the Television Championship last week, Styles challenged them to a gauntlet match. If he wins then Daniels must reveal why he has this hold over Kaz.

Can A.J. Styles defeat both wrestlers one after the other or will Christopher Daniels’ secret remain just that, a secret?

This week’s episode of Impact Wrestling is looking like it’ll be another solid show.

Will it be? Tune in to find out!
