Roger Federer Video: Watch Federer's Sick Athleticism in Dubai
The ATP 500 event in Dubai, which Novak Djokovic has won for the past three years, saw Roger Federer showcasing his variety on court.
The Swiss Maestro has lifted the winner's trophy in this event four times before and is looking to do it again.
He defeated Michael Llodra in straight sets in a masterclass performance that lasted just over an hour on Tuesday.
On Wednesday he faced Feliciano Lopez from Spain, against whom Federer has a perfect head-to-head record (which is now 10-0).
As Roger attempted to serve out the match, he was faced with a tumultuously awkward opening point.
Go to 4:17 to witness his wonderful improvisation and sheer talent.
The world No. 3 player came to net and was then lobbed by his opponent. After realizing it was impossible to hit an overhead in-the-air, Roger let it bounce and hit a 180-degree twisting side-spin overhead while Lopez recognized the chance he had to come in to net himself.
Again Roger was lobbed, and he hit a similarly untypical and unorthodox shot.
Still, Lopez was in the position to put a volley away to apply more pressure to his opponent to serve out the set. However, Roger's doggedness and defense proved too much as his class shined vividly for the audience to witness.
Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic still remain in the draw and will prove to be formidable opponents for each other if they make a far enough run to clash.
