Steve Nash Trade Rumors: Latest Update for Phoenix Suns Star

Ryan RudnanskyMay 31, 2018

Steve Nash will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, and the eight-time All-Star could help a lot of teams as we approach the March 15 trade deadline.

However, it appears Nash and the Phoenix Suns are unwilling to part ways, even with the organization failing to win ball games.

Chris Broussard of ESPN tweeted on Tuesday:

Nothing's changed in Phoenix: Suns still not trading Steve Nash unless he asks for it, sources say. And he won't.

Nash confirmed to the Arizona Republic that he's not going to ask for a trade, despite being 38 years old and one of the greatest players in NBA history not to win a championship.

Nash told the Republic:

"

It's up to the team. I'm happy where I am. I'm not happy with our record. I feel like I made a commitment to the fans and my teammates. But at the same time, I'd understand if the team wanted to make a move, so I'm completely open. To be honest, I just occupy myself with trying to prepare to play and play as well as I can.

"

Nash added:

"

I feel like it's a difficult position for me to demand a trade when I've been a part of that community for so long. I really feel like I owe it to my teammates to do the best I can for the group. I don't feel like I should be demanding anything.

"

Although the Suns probably should trade Nash while he still has some value (given they aren't going anywhere right now), Nash's stance actually puts management in a tough position. If Nash is sent out of town, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire city of Phoenix revolted. As Nash mentions, he has been "a part of the community for so long." Losing him is like Indianapolis losing Peyton Manning.

According to HOOPSWORLD, there are several teams interested in Nash, including the Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers. Dwight Howard has reportedly asked the Magic to pursue Nash.

You have to wonder: If the Magic landed Nash, would Howard stay in Orlando?

Now there's something to wrap your head around.

Stay tuned for the latest trade rumors surrounding Nash.
