Klitschko vs. Mormeck: Disgusting Mismatch Is a Horrid Waste of Time
There is no point to this bout.
Well, it will make a few some extra money. But, to the sport of boxing and its fans, it is completely pointless.
Jean Marc Mormeck deserves a chance to fight Wladimir Klitschko, but it should be as a sparing partner and not for a heavyweight title.
The champ could sleep walk his way to a title defense in this bout. He grossly outclasses his opponent.
Jean Marc Mormeck is a former world champion. The problem is that he was a former cruiserweight world champ.
Mormeck stands just over 5'11", and this is a fighter that has spent most of his career fighting under 200 pounds.
He is giving up around eight inches to Wladimir and he is also lighter. He does not have the skill to make up for these deficit.
At 39, Mormeck is well past his prime. And, he hasn't even fought since December 2010.
This fight is going to be trivial. There is no reason to watch or care about this fight.
Something should have been done to deliver a more compelling bout. There are a handful of opponents that would have made for more intriguing theater.
Alexander Povetkin would have been a nice start. He didn't express any interest in this bout, but they should have put together an offer good enough to land a more worthy fighter.
Instead, we are left with this nonsense.
