WWE: Which WrestleMania 28 Match Will Be the Best?
WrestleMania 28 is one of the most loaded cards in WWE pay-per-view history. There are four matches that are main event worthy, headlined by The Rock vs. John Cena.
Here is what to look forward to:
1. The return of the Rock.
2. Hell in a Cell - 20-0 or 19-1?
3. Both championship matches.
This WrestleMania could be the best ever. Here is a breakdown of the four announced matches, and which one will be the best:
4. Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan (World Heavyweight Championship Match)
1 of 4Daniel Bryan is arguably the best in-ring worker in the WWE. Some view him as an underdog, but every time Bryan enters the ring he puts on a great match.
Sheamus has improved a lot since his debut. Winning the Royal Rumble was a sign from management that they view him as a legitimate top guy.
This is the less sexy championship match of the two, but it shouldn't be overlooked. Any match with Bryan has a chance to be world class.
Pre-Match Grade: B
Prediction: Sheamus over Daniel Bryan via pinfall.
3. The Undertaker vs. Triple H (Hell in a Cell Match)
2 of 420-0 is on the line at WrestleMania 28.
In what looks to be both Triple H and the Undertaker's last match at WrestleMania, the two men will square off in a Hell in a Cell.
The Undertaker's streak seems untouchable at this point. It would seem crazy to have him lose his last match at WrestleMania. Undertaker was in the first ever Hell in a Cell match, and now he looks to end his career in that same match.
Since both competitors are older, the Cell is an excuse to use more props, instead of putting on an actual wrestling match. That's not a complaint. At this stage in both of their careers, it would be more entertaining to see them fight with weapons instead of trying to top their match from a year ago.
Every Hell in a Cell match has something different. Maybe Undertaker will Last Ride Triple H through the top of the cell, if they can somehow climb up there.
This match will be the end of an era. The same night the Rock and John Cena will represent two different eras in a match, Triple H and the Undertaker will say goodbye to an era as a whole.
Pre-Match Grade: A-
Prediction: Undertaker over Triple H via pinfall.
2. CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho (WWE Championship Match)
3 of 4This match has an opportunity to steal the show.
CM Punk has emerged as a megastar in the past year. His mic skills are unparalleled and his ring work is among the best in the business.
Chris Jericho is no stranger to WrestleMania. He has stolen the show before. Jericho is the perfect WrestleMania opponent for Punk—a loud rebel who uses skill to get by, not his muscle.
Punk made a great point about Jericho in the last Raw. Jericho has always been a good wrestler, but he has never been "the guy." Punk is the new people's champ. He transformed himself from an upper mid-card to an elite level wrestler like John Cena and Randy Orton.
Jericho and Punk would be the main event in any other WrestleMania. Since the main event will most likely be Cena vs. The Rock, the WWE championship match doesn't have as big of expectations. That's why this match will be great. These two wrestlers honestly believe that they are the best professional wrestlers in the world. They are going to steal the show, and the winner really will be the best in the world at what they do.
Pre-Match Grade: A+
Prediction: Punk over Jericho via submission.
1. John Cena vs. the Rock
4 of 4They have been hyping it for a year.
The People's Champ vs. The Doctor of Thuganomics.
The Rock vs. John Cena is the most anticipated WrestleMania match in WWE history. It represents a bout between two different eras—the Attitude era and the PG era.
Older fans dislike Cena because of what he represents. He's a giant cartoon character who overcomes the odds time after time. Over the years, Cena has developed into an unrealistic character.
The Rock is a wrestling legend. He was the poster boy for the WWE during the golden age of wrestling. This is his first WrestleMania match since WrestleMania 20, when he teamed with Mick Foley and took on Evolution.
This may be the hardest WWE match ever to predict. If the Rock loses, it becomes the same old story with Cena overcoming the odds. It would be hard to see the Rock losing to anyone after an eight-year absence.
But Cena is different in the eyes of the WWE. He's their new poster boy. How can he lose to the Rock after his promo where he preached how he hasn't gone anywhere and the Rock left for fame? That would diminish everything Cena stands for. Adults may hate him, but the younger audience still loves him. If Cena defeats the Rock, it will elevate him into the conversation of the "all-time greats."
This match will symbolize the passing of the torch. One generation to the next. Don't expect the Rock to return after years away from the ring, just to beat Cena. The win would mean nothing to him and it would be a slap in the face to everything Cena has done. If the Rock wins, he's still going to leave after the match. If Cena wins, his victory will last forever.
Pre-Match Grade: A+
Prediction: Cena over The Rock via pinfall.
