NBA Rumors: Golden State Warriors Are Foolish to Pursue Dwight Howard
The Golden State Warriors would be making a massive mistake if they traded for Dwight Howard. While D-12 is the biggest prize on the trade market, the Warriors would only be gaining a couple of months of his services.
Howard is a free agent at the end of the year and he is not going to re-sign with the Warriors.
Golden State appears undeterred by this fact. NBA.com's Scott Howard-Cooper tweeted about that.
"Warriors continuing push for Dwight Howard deal even without DH commitment to re-signing. Not backing off from risky move, source says.

Howard-Cooper is a reliable reporter that must have quality sources. There is no reason to doubt what he says here. There is a huge reason to doubt the Warriors plan, though.
Why the Warriors Would Be Making a Huge Mistake
Golden State is desperate for a center and this is certainly one way they could add one. However, they are completely fooling themselves if they think they can get Howard to re-sign. And that would be the only reason they make this move, right?
They couldn't be crazy enough to think they could move the kind of players it would take to add Howard and make a run at the Finals this year.
The problem is that Golden State has nothing to offer Howard to get him to sign long-term. They don't play in a big market and he wouldn't be surrounded with elite talent. The only thing they would be able to offer is a bigger contract than any other team.
But Howard is going to get the max wherever he goes and he isn't likely to let that deter him from bolting from lowly Golden State.
You have to admire the Warriors' aggressiveness, but they better start aiming that aggression on a different target.
