Fantasy Hoops Waiver-Wire Bin, Vol. 9

Ryan LesterJan 8, 2009

I’ve scoured the fantasy baskeball waiver wires to find gems so you don’t have to.

Guard

Eric Gordon, Los Angeles Clipppers

Gordon is on fire with back-to-back 30 point games as the Clippers are dealing with major injury issues. Gordon has thrived with the extra responsibilities.

In his last five games he’s averaging 25.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.8 three-pointers while shooting 49.4% from the floor, 40.9% from three, and 92.7% from the line. He’s 25 of 27 from the stripe in his last two games. He’s has a salary cap number of $2.76M in Sporting News salary cap leagues and is owned in 28.6% of ESPN and 57% of Yahoo leagues.

Von Wafer, Houston

Besides having a really cool name, Wafer has shown a really cool game of late.

In his last four games he’s averaging 15.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.8 three-pointers with just 0.5 turnovers. He’s shooting 55.8% from the floor, 61.1% from downtown, and 66.7% from the line.

He’s attempted just three free throws though, and is 73.9% fir the season so he’s not going to wreck your FT% category. He qualifies at PG & SG in Yahoo leagues. He has a $0.50M SN cap number and is owned in 0.5% of ESPN and 2% of Yahoo leagues.

Forward

Luis Kleiza, Denver

With Carmelo Anthony on the shelf for three weeks or so, Kleiza will have his number called more frequently.

He had 21 points and 7 rebounds in his first game since ‘Melo went down. In his last five games he’s averaging 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 2.2 three-pointers.

He’s shooting 48.7% from the floor, 45.8% from three, and 71.4% from the line. He qualifies at SG & SF in Yahoo leagues. He has a SN cap number of $2.15M and is owned in 2.7% of ESPN and 19% of Yahoo leagues.

Tyrus Thomas, Chicago

Drew Gooden is back, but Thomas is still delivering fantasy goodies.

In his last five games he’s averaging 10.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.6 blocks. He’s shot 42.9% from the floor and 88.9% from the line. He qualifies at SF & PF in Yahoo leagues. He has a $2.64M SN cap and 11.3% of ESPN and 36% of Yahoo leagues.

Center

Ben Wallace, Cleveland

He’s not going to help you in the scoring department, but he is filling up the stat sheet again, especially now that Zydrunas Ilgauskas is out.

In his last five games he’s averaging 5.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 1.0 steals, 2.2 blocks, and just 0.8 turnovers. He’s shooting 45.8% from the floor and his typical 50% from the line. He only attempted six free throws though. He qualifies at PF & C.

He has a $5.12 SN cap number so he’s not particularly useful there. He’s best suited for Daily leagues if you need a bump in Boards or Blocks or Weekley leagues if he plays four times. He’s owned in 10% of ESPN and 42% of Yahoo leagues.
