"The Crow" Returns! But Two Years Can Be a Long Time Away
Thats right ladies and gentleman, my prayers have been answered. Twice I have written about the UFC needing to bring back "The Crow", and apparently they have read my articles (although I highly doubt it).
David Loiseau is rumored to be returning to the octagon after more than two year away from the biggest MMA organization in the world. When? UFC 97 on April 19th. Where? His hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Perfect. Who? Ed Herman.
Now for those thinking it hasn't been that long since David last fought in the UFC, here is what the MMA picture looked like when he left.
- The UFC champions were Tim Silvia, Chuck Liddell, Rich Franklin, Matt Hughes, and there was no LW champion.
- PRIDE was still in business
- Randy Couture was a retired LHW fighter
- Neither Rashad Evans or Forrest Griffin were in anyones LHW rankings
- Matt Lindland was considered the 2nd best middleweight. Franklin was #1
- Brock Lesnar was wrestling for New Japan Pro Wrestling
- Fedor was the best HW in the world (still is)
- TUF was in it's 4th season. (The Comeback)
- Urijah Faber had yet to defend his WEC Featherweight title
- Eddie Alvarez was the BodogFight Welterweight Champion
- Gina Carano had just won her second fight
- EliteXC was still five months away from there first MMA event
- A rumor was flowing that Mike Tyson would fight in PRIDE
- Joe Rogan was still hosting Fear Factor
- Brandon Vera was being taken seriously
- Keith Jardine was creepy looking (still is)
- Thiago Alves was 2-2 in the UFC
- Anderson Silva had spent 49 seconds in the octagon
- Mike Bisping was and undefeated LHW fighter
- Sokoudjou was 2-0
- Kimbo Slice was a 7-1 Youtube brawler
- Ken Shamrock/Tito Ortiz 3 was less than a month away
- Hong Man Choi was a 9-1 kickboxer who had never fought in MMA
- The Bleacher Report did not exist
Alright, now that your caught up, I think you're ready.
Now I know that he has fought outside the UFC, relax. This was mostly to show how much has happened in the last two years in the MMA world. We've come a long way since David last fought in the UFC.
