Michael CummingsFeb 28, 2012

Goalkeepers will be on the move this summer when the transfer window reopens. The only question is: Who?

Here is a list of seven goalkeepers who could move to a new club this summer. Some will make only a small blip in the craziness that defines the world football transfer market. Others could potentially be part of blockbuster deals.

Igor Akinfeev

Rumors surfaced earlier this month that Chelsea were looking at CSKA Moscow keeper Igor Akinfeev. The idea would be to bring in Akinfeev as a long-term replacement for Petr Cech.

Akinfeev, 25, reportedly ruled out the idea (here and here). But who knows? It's hard to see Akinfeev turning down Chelsea's money. Few do.

Petr Cech

So what does that mean for Petr Cech?

The 29-year-old keeper reportedly said in January he would like to sign a new contract but couldn't rule out leaving Chelsea past the end of his current deal.

So, again, what does that mean?

Ben Foster

English keeper Ben Foster joined West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan last summer.

So, is a permanent deal in the cards this summer? Baggies defender Liam Ridgewell hopes so.

Heurelho Gomes

Heurelho Gomes has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur, and a summer move seems almost inevitable.

Now third choice at White Hart Lane, Gomes was reportedly put up for sale late last year after falling out with manager Harry Redknapp. A transfer didn't materialize in January, but a move back to his native Brazil seems likely.

Nikolay Mihaylov

In December, 23-year-old Bulgarian keeper Nikolay Mihaylov reportedly said he wants to leave Holland's FC Twente for AC Milan.

Mihaylov, whose career with Liverpool fell apart over work permit issues, has also been linked with Spurs.

Lukasz Fabianski

Arsenal backup Lukasz Fabianski reportedly asked manager Arsene Wenger for a loan move over the winter. The idea was for Fabianski to play more first-team matches ahead of this summer's Euro 2012 in his native Poland.

Instead, Fabianski stayed with Arsenal. Could he be in line for a summer move?

Javi Varas

Heading the other direction could be Sevilla goalkeeper Javi Varas, who is reportedly an Arsenal target.

Varas, 29, signed a new contract with Sevilla last October.
