Michigan Football Recruiting: Wolverines Are Building a Dominant 2013 Class

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

Michigan Wolverine fans have to be jacked about the future of their team.

Under first-year coach Brady Hoke, they vastly outperformed expectations in 2011. They then capped off an excellent rookie class and wound up ranked as the seventh-best recruiting class by ESPN.

And the news just keeps getting better. They already have a foundation for a great 2013 recruiting class.

2013 Commitments

Michigan already has 13 commitments for the 2013 class.

At the head of this list is 5-star QB recruit Shane Morris. Morris is the big, strong-armed type of QB that Michigan fans have gotten used to over the years.

Christopher Parish of ESPNHS.com offers up this quote on Morris:

"

He's got a great frame for development with already-good height, said Tom Luginbill, ESPN director of football recruiting. He's a strong-armed lefty who is a very powerful thrower with feet, stature and an authoritative motion.

"

Morris is also going to have some blocking for him.

They've also received commitments from two 4-star offensive guards in Christopher Fox and Patrick Kugler.

Those aren't the only 4-star recruits already committed. Defensive end Wyatt Shallman and safety Dymonte Thomas mean this class won't all be about offense either.

Adding to an Impressive Class

With an already strong incoming class, it is going to be easier to get other recruits to jump on board. Michigan is already listed as a school of interest by Scout.com on two elite defensive prospects.

OLB Michael Hutchings has the looks of a dominant pass rusher, and he is eyeing Michigan. So is safety Su'a Cravens.

Those guys are both 5-star prospects according to Scout. Moving on to the 4-star prospects, you'll find 22 players with Michigan listed as a school of interest.

In the world of recruiting, nothing is certain until a letter of intent is signed, but this positive wave of momentum is a great sign for the Wolverines.
