6 NFL Rumors That No One Really Believes
The NFL rumor mill is now set at full steam ahead and is rumbling toward the 2012 NFL draft. Soon to be NFL newcomers, grizzled veterans and a couple of certain Hall of Famers continue to flood the airways with non-stop banter.
With NFL franchise tag decisions to be made by March 5, free agency opening on March 13 and the draft dropping on April 26, there are plenty of things to talk about.
With enough rumors to make your head spin, some things are just too good to be true.
Honorable Mention: Believing the Browns Will Land RG3 Is Just Plain Boneheaded
1 of 7The Cleveland Browns may be desperate for a franchise quarterback, but they won't be able to procure the rights to Robert Griffin III.
While it's true that the Browns have the No. 4 and No. 22 overall picks in the 2012 NFL draft, it won't be enough.
RG3 has all the momentum in the world after an impressive combine and is the most talked about "consolation prize" in NFL history.
For that reason, the St. Louis Rams are ready to trade their No. 2 pick to the highest bidder.
The fact that the Browns aren't openly gung-ho about RG3 is baffling. What are they thinking?
In the end, Browns GM Mike Holmgren's efforts to get RG3 will fail and the Browns' woes will continue.
No One Believes That Randy Moss Can Make an Impact in the NFL Again
2 of 7Randy Moss is going to give it another go in the NFL.
In reality, the 35-year-old wide receiver should just stay at home.
Remember in 2010, when Moss played for not one, not two but three teams in one season? Believing he has something left is just foolish.
Knowing that Moss wants to make an impact is enough for a team to take a chance on him, but the odds of him producing at a high level for an entire NFL season are against him.
He's already Hall of Fame bound, but like many great athletes before him, he doesn't realize that his best days are done.
No One Believes That Trading for Bart Scott Is Worth It
3 of 7The New York Jets' rumor mill is 24/7/365, and the latest gossip is that linebacker Bart Scott is now trade-bait.
Truth is, no one wants the 31-year-old Scott and his $4.2 million dollar contract in 2012.
In all honesty, what could the Jets even get in return? A mid-round pick at best is about it.
Scott still has some time left in the NFL, but he'll have to take a pay cut and prove himself again.
If one were to ask Scott if he's ready to leave the J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets! his response would be, "Can't Wait!"
Expect the Jets to release Scott before anyone takes the bait.
No One Believes That Matt Forte Will Wear a Different Uniform in 2012
4 of 7Running back Matt Forte may be a free agent, but there is no way that the Chicago Bears will let him run away from them.
Being that Forte is seemingly 92 percent of their total offense, the Bears would be downright dumb if they didn't use their franchise tag on him.
Any guy who leads his team in rushing yards and receptions deserves a hefty raise—$7.7 million sounds about right. For a Bears' offense that can be frustrating to watch at times, Forte is worth every penny.
Don't think twice about Forte leaving the Windy City.
No One Believes That Mike Wallace Will Leave Pittsburgh Any Longer
5 of 7Not so long ago, restricted free agent Mike Wallace was thought to be on his way out of Pittsburgh.
Those hot rumors appear to be cooling to a simmer because of the fact that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger restructured his contract.
Another fact in the Steelers' favor is that if a team were to want Wallace badly enough, they would have to match the Steelers' offer and cough up a first-round draft pick. That alone will be too rich for any sane NFL GM.
After all, Big Ben restructured to keep his favorite target in town.
Quite frankly—the Steelers need Wallace to legitimize their offense more than anything.
Don't Believe That Peyton Manning Will End Up Anywhere Besides South Beach
6 of 7Miami Dolphins fans once witnessed greatness in quarterback Dan Marino.
Now they want a peek at Peyton Manning.
Even though he's recovering from a nasty injury and is past his prime, Manning is better than what the Dolphins have.
The Dolphins are starting with a clean slate as a franchise and will be more than willing to hand Manning the reins.
Manning himself will be playing with an unforeseen desire to prove the Indianapolis Colts wrong for ditching him.
With both sides having nothing to lose, Miami will be an exciting team in 2012.
No One Believes That Andrew Luck Going No. 1 Is Set in Stone Anymore
7 of 7There is no question that this year's NFL draft has a ridiculous amount of hype because of two kids playing the most important position—quarterback.
For well over a year, Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck has been the consensus No. 1 overall pick.
There's only one thing standing in Luck's way—Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III is the hottest thing since sliced bread at the moment.
Right now, Luck is almost an afterthought—it's not too far-fetched that Griffin III could end up No. 1.
After all, in an election year, the greatest debate for football fans will be Luck or RG3? Who gets your vote?
