NFL Combine 2012 Results: Stephen Hill and Players Whose Stock Rose Dramatically

Everyone knows that Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck dazzled at the combine, but their stock was already through the roof going into it.

Let’s take a look at some players that have a chance to sneak into the first round, or at least move up a few rounds, in the 2012 NFL draft based on their terrific combine performances.

Stephen Hill

The 6’4”, 215-pound receiver out of Georgia Tech shocked everyone by running a 4.36 40-yard dash and made a ridiculous, diving, fingertip catch on Sunday.

He’s got all the physical tools to be a successful NFL receiver but never produced at a high level in college.

Teams definitely know who Hill is, but he’ll have to show some more stuff in the coming months to prove he actually has a chance to succeed at the next level.

Kirk Cousins

The Michigan State Spartans signal-caller had one of the best combines outside of the two QBs mentioned earlier.

He was one of the few that chose to actually do what his position requires and threw the ball in Indianapolis.

It paid off, and he was widely reported to have had one of the best days of any player, severely boosting his stock.

Cousins should be the third QB off the board if the draft started now.

LaMichael James

James lit it up the combine with a 4.37 unofficial 40-yard dash, and that generated some buzz for the former Oregon Ducks RB.

It’s going to be tough for him to move past a mid-round pick with the number of fast and skilled backs on the board, but his blazing speed might be the X-factor in securing an earlier draft position.

LaMichael, officially measured at 5’9”, 194.5 pounds, believes he can be a back that plays every down in the NFL.

He’s going to have to bulk up and retain that speed if he wants that to happen.
