San Jose Sharks Video: Head Coach Todd McLellan Hit with Stick
The San Jose Sharks could not have waited any longer to end their disastrous road trip. Nine games in 15 days resulted in a 2-6-1 record, and they now find themselves fighting for a playoff spot in seventh place in the Western Conference. This was capped off by a third-period debacle in Minnesota, where the Wild came back from a 3-2 deficit to win 4-3.
And, if it could get any worse, even their head coach Todd McLellan went down (video here).
Early in the second period of Sunday's game, after the Minnesota Wild had just tied the game at two, McLellan was apparently hit in the head by Martin Scandella's stick as he was pushed towards the Sharks' bench by Jamie McGinn. McClellan went down and was immediately surrounded by medical personnel. Stretchers were brought out, but he was able to get up and walk off under his own power.

"I looked and Todd was trying to compose himself and stay upright," said assistant coach Matt Shaw, who took over after McLellan recovered enough to be helped to the locker room area for medical observation. "You could tell he was in some obvious discomfort."
Just a couple of hours ago, San Jose Sharks' broadcaster Randy Hahn tweeted: "Todd McLellan is on Sharks charter and traveling back to San Jose with the team. He Has a headache."
The Sharks will play at home on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. This starts a four-game homestand, before they head back on the road for four more games.
