Daytona 500 Predictions: Kyle Busch Will Outshine Star-Studded Field
Kyle Busch is a star, and he's going to prove that on one of NASCAR's biggest stages—the Daytona 500.
It's not going to be an easy task, especially considering the rest of the star-studded field, but if there's a driver I feel comfortable putting my confidence in, it's Busch.
How will Busch be able to outshine the likes of Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson and Sprint Cup newbie Danica Patrick?
Star power.
He's simply the best driver in the world right now. Not only is he in a groove after winning the Budweiser Shootout in epic fashion last week, but the moves that he displayed en route to the win has the NASCAR world buzzing.
Jeff Owens of SportingNews.com quotes Busch on the praise he received after the race:
"Then, late in the race, Jeff Gordon hit him from behind, causing him to nearly wreck again. While Gordon slammed the outside wall, causing his car to flip and roll onto its roof, Busch again drove away.
It was those moves that earned him widespread praise.
"So many of (the messages) just were really positive reinforcement to my driving,” Busch said. “Just a lot of encouragement that it's one of the best (saves) they've ever seen, it's something that they've never seen. Some would say that there's few that can do it, but they know that I may be the only one that's ever done it.
“I had a long next day getting back to everybody and answering everybody. … That's the positive of winning."
"
He nearly spun out and wrecked his car twice in the races final laps, but he was able to pull off incredible saves to keep his car on track and win the race.
There is not another driver in the world who can do what Busch can do with a car going over 200 miles an hour, and that's why he's my favorite to win the Daytona 500.
Factor in the rain delay and potential slick conditions when the race officially starts up again, and Busch has a firm advantage.
If there's a driver that can maneuver his car through a rough situation, it's Busch.
He's a star, and I expect him to outshine all the others and win the Daytona 500.
