Peyton Manning Rumors: Chiefs Need to Ditch Kyle Orton and Sign Manning
Eric BallJun 7, 2018
The Kansas City Chiefs have two mediocre QBs and have a very low ceiling for the 2012 season despite having a terrific defense and running game.
The solution is easy.
Sign Peyton Manning.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Okay, so it’s not easy to convince one of the greatest QBs of all time to play for your franchise. However, head coach Romeo Crennel is certainly going to try, according to ESPN’s John Clayton:
"Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel made it clear they want veteran competition for starting quarterback Matt Cassel. When asked about looking at Manning, if he's cut by the Colts, Crennel said Saturday the Chiefs would be crazy not to consider him.
"
Crazy indeed.
If they don’t sign him, they’ll likely be forced to sign Kyle Orton. In case you forgot, Orton is one of the most mediocre QBs in the league. Good enough to move your team down the field and bad enough to turn the ball over before reaching the end zone.
He is never going to win a playoff game in his career so there is no point going to training camp with Orton battling Matt Cassel for the starting gig.
Speaking of Cassel, he’s another mediocre QB that has never experienced a ton of success. The odds of him ever winning a playoff game are as slim as Sarah Jessica-Parker’s waistline, with a career QB rating of 82.
What’s the harm in taking a gamble on Manning and having Cassel as your insurance in case his neck issues flair up again? Sure, it’s no certainty that Manning can survive even one more hit from a defensive end, but what if he is healthy again?
May I remind you of Manning’s 4.700 yards, 33 TDs and 17 INTs in 2010 with an injury-plagued receiving corps?
No. 18 is worth the risk and when you place him on a team with a star receiver in Dwayne Bowe and running back Jamaal Charles you have a deadly offense to go along with a defense that finished 11th overall.
The pieces of the puzzle are all there except for the most important one in the middle.
Manning is that missing piece and the Chiefs would instantly turn into Super Bowl contenders if they can pull it off.
Next month can’t come soon enough.
