NBA Trade Rumors: Raymond Felton Would Be Great Addition to Kobe Bryant's Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers desperately need to make a few moves that will help out superstar Kobe Bryant. Bringing in a guy like point guard Raymond Felton would be a great start.

Let's be frank, the Lakers won't be able to win another NBA title with Derek Fisher at the helm. As great as he's been for this franchise, his time has come and gone, especially with the point guard position being so young and dynamic in today's NBA.

Backup point guard Steve Blake can be serviceable at times, but in no way is he a starter. He's a good energy guy off the bench that can come in, run the offense and give your main guy a break.

However, asking Blake to run this offense and do so at a championship caliber level would be dumb.

What does that mean for the Lakers? They need to find somebody who can help run their offense, take some pressure of Kobe in the backcourt and open up the offense.

Ronald Lazenby tweeted Saturday via a source that in addition to Beasley the Lakers also want Raymond Felton.

It's been widely reported the team is also after a PG, and Felton is on an expiring deal and recently lost his starting job. Which could mean the Lakers may be able to snag him from Portland.

If there was a trade that made sense, it would be trying to bring in Felton, who does have the skill set to be a starter in the NBA.

He's averaged 10.2 points, 6.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game this season, he's only 27 years old and he's on an expiring contract.

The worst case scenario would see the Lakers bring him in, the move not work out and the team let him leave when his contract is up.

The best case scenario would see him come in, add a much needed boost to the point guard position and really open up the offense for Kobe.

I think this move would be worth the risk involved. Felton could be a great addition to the Lakers.
