Chelsea FC: What AVB Did Right for Chelsea FC in Their 3-0 Win over Bolton
AVB has been under some immense pressure in recent weeks and responded well with an excellent win over the weekend. That doesn't necessarily mean that Chelsea are back on track, but it is a start. Lets look at what exactly AVB did right to achieve a Chelsea victory.
- He opted for the old guard and leadership qualities of Frank Lampard. Lampard has been in and out of the squad since AVB arrived at Chelsea and he openly admitted that his relationship with Villas-Boas isn't the greatest. There was something special about seeing Cech, Cole, Essien, Lamps, and Drogba all back in the line up.

I know that AVB was brought to Chelsea to "exchange" the older players for new, young, and fresh talented players, but AVB opted for the old guard and hopefully learned a lesson.
- You can't change Chelsea in one season. Chelsea depend on the experienced players and if they want transition and success then they will have to be patient, which is a lesson I hope AVB learned as well.
- Stick with a formation. I loved seeing Ramires and Essien beside each other in midfield. the 4-3-3 is an excellent formation for Chelsea and if AVB chooses the 4-2-3-1 is a better formation then he needs to stick with it.
- Finally, a permanent starting line-up? There have been very few games where AVB chose the exact same starting line-up consecutively. Chelsea have incredible strength in the line-up from Saturday.
With some tweaks to the back-line, Chelsea could once again be a force to be reckoned with.
- A strike-force that can score. Chelsea have had a problem with putting the ball in the back of the net. In their past few games they have created many opportunities but converted few to none.
Drogba still has the ability to score and looks to be returning to form.
-Somewhere where Torres can do what he does best. NOTHING. The bench should now be Torres' friend.
In saying that I am a HUGE fan and it breaks my heart every moment he is on the pitch. Torres needs to fight harder. He has been handed too many opportunities from AVB and needs to prove himself coming off the bench before he should ever be included in the starting line-up.
What did you see happening in this weekends game?
