Where Do the Dallas Cowboys Go from Here?

The 2008 NFL season is over for "America's Team"; in reality, it was over before it started. This team that was fielded this past season was but a shell of the echos of past greatness. The players and coaches were lost in a fog of the previous seasons 13-3 record. Almost expecting to repeat that feat if not better upon it just because they are The Dallas Cowboys!

Now this season crashed and burned like a kamikaze pilot in the midst of war. So people are asking: Where do we go from here? I mean, Jerry Jones has said that his coaches will be "safe", right?

Well it seems like things are starting to move in a positive direction, with the release of "Pacman" Jones, and the hiring of special teams coach Joe DeCamillis. DeCamillis is a man in the mold of Joe Avezzano: a stern, in your face, take-no-prisoners type of coach. Now what about the rest?

Sure, Wade Phillips is talking the "Change" message, but who isn't this year? I don't believe Phillips has it in him; he's not that guy. He's a slow talking, soft-spoken man, that's it. Are we to believe that all of a sudden "poof" he becomes Mr. Hyde?

No.

So my advice to Jerry Jones, if he knew what was good for his storied franchise is this. Hire Mile Shanahan, his running game would work wonders with Barber, Jones, and Choice. Then let Garret go; it's time to change it up and what better way than letting him go and promoting wide receivers coach Ray Sherman.

Ray has been a NFL stalwart and T.O. trusts and loves him. The man was offensive coordinator for the Vikings and the Steelers and has the respect of the players. Between him and Shanahan the offense will roll.

Now, here's the interesting part: I would offer the Defensive Coordinator job to none other than...wait for it...wait for it...Wade Phillips!!!

What you say??? Are you out of your stinking mind??? Well, no, I don't think so. You see, Phillips may be a softy but his defenses are GOOD! So you keep him in the team continuity doesn't break up completely and chemistry changes for the good.

So, to recap, Shanahan head coach, Sherman Offensive coordinator, Wade Phillips Defensive Coordinator, and the New special teams guy DeCamillis. Any questions???
