Terrell Owens: 3 TDs in Indoor Football League Debut Won't Impress NFL Teams

Justin WeltonJun 4, 2018

Former star receiver Terrell Owens made his Indoor Football League debut on Saturday for the Allen Wranglers in a 50-30 victory over the Wichita Wild.

The 38-year-old caught three passes and scored three touchdowns in front of 5,711 people at the Allen Events Center, the largest crowd in team history.

Owens’ performance was solid for the IFL, but he won’t impress NFL teams by playing in a league like this. Every team in the NFL already knows that he can play at a high level, but they also know about his selfish and corrupt attitude.  The latter will be the reason why he won’t play in the NFL.

Three passes is all Owens caught in his professional football return—that’s not that impressive. He should be catching around 10 passes per game going up against players like this.

Do you think NFL scouts are “wowing” at his performance on the field? Not really.

I will give Owens some slack because I’m sure it was a little different playing indoors instead of outdoors. According to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas, that’s exactly what was different.

"

"Again, if we're outdoors I run away from that. We're indoors so the ball can't be thrown too far down the field. Those are some of the things you have to adjust to by playing indoors,” said Owens.

"

This is the first game coming off his ACL injury and it’s the first time playing indoors, but nothing that he does will prove that he’s ready to return to the NFL.

We know that the guy can play. It’s his “all about me” attitude that pushes teams away. Nobody wants to sign a guy like this who destroyed locker rooms in San Francisco and Philadelphia. If he doesn’t get the ball, he’s not going to be happy.

Forget about it.

He’s not worth a sign at this point of his career.
