NBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns Must Focus on Future by Trading Steve Nash

Justin WeltonJun 6, 2018

Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns franchise go hand-in-hand. They have helped each other out since Nash’s arrival, but when is it enough?

Is Nash, 38 years of age, the future in Phoenix? I realize everything that he has done for the franchise, but the NBA is a business.

It’s time to cut ties with the two-time league MVP. The Arizona Republic says that Nash wants to stay in Phoenix.

"It's up to the team," Nash said. "I'm happy where I am. I'm not happy with our record. I feel like I made a commitment to the fans and my teammates. But at the same time, I'd understand if the team wanted to make a move, so I'm completely open. To be honest, I just occupy myself with trying to prepare to play and play as well as I can."

Nash has openly stated that he would understand if the organization wanted to make a move. But the Suns have also said that they won’t move unless he asks for a trade.

"

"I feel like it's a difficult position for me to demand a trade when I've been a part of that community for so long," Nash said in his 10th Suns season. "I really feel like I owe it to my teammates to do the best I can for the group. I don't feel like I should be demanding anything."

"

What are the Suns waiting for? There are several teams that need a point guard. Maybe they could get a future first-round draft pick for the eight-time NBA All-Star.

If you like Nash so much, why not trade him to a winning team that has a chance to make the NBA Finals? You would be bettering yourself and Nash by giving him an opportunity to win a trophy.

If I were a fan of the Suns organization, a team that is 14-20 and 7-14 at home, I would want the team to move along from the Nash era.

I love what Nash has done with the organization and the way he plays the game, but it’s time to get something for him. Phoenix won’t win a championship with Nash at the helm.

Nash and the Suns seem to be on different pages. It almost reminds me of one side not wanting to make the call because of how they will be perceived. This is the Suns’ call right now and they have to pick up the phone.
