NFL Combine 2012: Which Prospects Are Scouts Talking About?

Donald WoodFeb 25, 2012

With the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine in full swing, there are already a few players on the lips of every scout.

College stars like Orson Charles, Michael Brockers and Cordy Glenn have all made big impacts during their short time at the combine and look to continue their upward trend on the draft boards.

All of the tests may not be effective in truly judging these players, but these players are looking dominant nonetheless. Good for them.

Orson Charles

While the need for a tight end is very specific, Georgia Bulldogs standout Orson Charles may be too good of an option to fall out of the first round. His performance at the combine so far backs that up.

Evan Silva of NBC Sports is reporting about Charles' stellar performance in the bench press and his better-than-anticipated height and weight:

With the main questions being about his size, the measurements are enough to make at least a team picking at the very tail end of the first round take the powerful tight end. His run-stopping and pass-catching abilities will not go unappreciated.

Michal Brockers

Starting with the offensive linemen and moving onto the defensive linemen, the biggest talk of this year’s event has been versatility. Teams want a guy who can come in and play multiple positions in different schemes.

Draft insider Dan Kadar is reporting on Twitter about what scouts are looking for and who this benefits most:

LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers is a beast with tons of room to grow. If he gets in the right system and has room to grow and learn, we could be looking at one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the past 10 drafts.

Cordy Glenn

While offensive lineman are notoriously bulky and slow, Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Cordy Glenn is showing the combine that he has some serious speed for his huge size.

RotoWorld draft insider Josh Norris is reporting on Twitter about just how impressive what Glenn is doing really is:

Glenn ran an unofficial 4.96 second 40-yard dash and impressed the scouts with his movement during the vertical and horizontal footwork tests. Glenn is seriously making an impact and could be climbing into the top 15.
