NFL Draft Combine 2012 Results: Alshon Jeffery Already Winning Combine

Gabe ZaldivarJun 6, 2018

Alshon Jeffery is winning, and that's before one workout takes place here at the NFL combine.

This is a great year for teams that need a wide receiver. The draft is filled with top-tier athletes that create separation and can catch pretty much anything in their vicinity.

Guys that can fly after the receptions are a dime a dozen here. You have to stick out if you want to land in the first round, and that is precisely what the former South Carolina standout Alshon Jeffery has done.

NFL draft analyst Dion Caputi reported early Friday on the weight loss of Alshon Jeffery. This is something that a lot of teams are talking about right now, you can guarantee it.

"

#USCar WR Alshon Jeffery showed up to the Combine at a very-much-in-shape 6'3" 216 lbs.; good workouts put him into top 10-15 consideration.

That is some high praise coming from a draft analyst. A great deal of mock drafts have Jeffery slotted as a late first-round pick or early second-round selection.

That's before he came in looking fit and ready to go.

This speaks volumes to an athlete that is taking the process very seriously and is ready to make a statement early.

It would have been very easy for him to rest on his laurels and let his talents take him to the NFL. There is nothing embarrassing about being a second-round pick in this league. In fact, it's an amazing accomplishment.

Jeffery is not about to let his name slide well past Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd or Kendall Wright.

He has stated loud and clear that he is competing with them, and he has the work ethic to back up such a boastful claim.

I am now very interested to see how his new slender frame translates to the drills this weekend. If he makes progress in that regard, I agree with Caputi fully.

Alshon Jeffery will be a top-15 pick.
