NBA Celebrity All-Star Game 2012: Celebs Who'll Play Like All-Stars
The 2012 NBA Celebrity All-Star Game tips off tonight at 7 p.m. ET and there are a ton of stars set to appear in it.
Everyone wants to know which players are going to do the best and who could be a surprise candidate for MVP after Justin Bieber captured the award last season.
Without factoring in the former NBA players that are competing, who have an obvious advantage, here are five superstars that are going to light it up on the hardwood tonight.
J.B. Smoove
1 of 5The Curb Your Enthusiasm star is listed at 6’2” and he’s probably going to play even bigger in this game.
He’s been chatting up Dwight Howard and getting tips.
The man best known as Leon Black even claimed to have dunked before in his life.
Watch for him to drain a few threes as well, since he also interviewed James Jones, a marksman competing in the three-point shootout.
Smoove might be able to shake his defenders just by making him laugh.
Doug Gottlieb
2 of 5Gottlieb is a former hoops star with Notre Dame and Oklahoma State and had a brief professional career as well.
He retired in 2002 after playing in Israel and headed back to the States to work for ESPN.
Gottlieb was listed at 6’0” during his playing days, which is more than enough height to succeed in the celeb game.
The guy has been around the game his whole life and simply knows how to play it.
He apparently does P90X and should be in fantastic shape, possibly the best of any player in this event.
Expect him to resume his familiar role as the point guard on the floor.
Vinny Guadagnino
3 of 5Guadagnino, or “Vinny from Jersey Shore,” as everyone should know him as, may be the only celebrity that publicly campaigned to be added to this event.
"The NBA said Guadagnino rallied more than 2.7 million Twitter followers to convince the NBA to add him to the roster.
"
He’s a short guy, rumored to be about 5’7”, but he might be able to pull off some Spud Webb-like maneuvers.
Apparently, he plays ball regularly, so he must have some tricks up his sleeve if he wanted to get into this game so bad.
Kevin Hart
4 of 5The Laugh At My Pain stand-up star is also a great hoops player.
He’s only listed at 5’4” but his heart and determination more than make up for it.
It also helps that he’s a great comedian and is friends with Dwyane Wade, one of the NBA’s biggest stars.
You know they have probably played at least a few games of pickup ball together and Hart definitely should have gleaned some moves off Wade.
This comedian is an X-factor in the competition and might end up being named MVP as a fan favorite.
Common
5 of 5This rapper is the son of Lonnie Lynn, former ABA professional basketball player.
Most reports are that he is a solid 6’0” and has some sweet ball-handling skills.
He starred as a basketball player in Just Wright, a 2010 film starring Queen Latifah.
This guy basically knows and loves the game, and went through some intense training to portray Scott McKnight in the movie.
A likely candidate to run the point, watch out for Common to look for revenge after losing out on last year's MVP trophy.
