NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2012: Dunks We'd Love to See Recreated
There are only so many ways that you dunk a basketball, and now it's time to relive the best.
Chase Budinger, Paul George, Jeremy Evans and Derrick Williams will attempt to wow and amaze us on Saturday night in the slam dunk contest, an exhibition that is far too often a bunch of no-name ballers failing to entertain.
This is counter to the good ol' days when we had no idea what was going to happen, and we loved the feeling of sheer anticipation.
Now we just pray that the contest isn't entirely horrible.
With that, we run down the dunks we wouldn't mind seeing again with a new flair or added creativity. There is no harm in giving fans a rerun. This is a nation that gobbles up syndicated Seinfeld episodes. So I think we can see some of these awesome throw downs once again.
From Steve Nash's Head
Amare Stoudemire used to be the highest-flying big man in the game. Before Blake Griffin, there was this dunk where Nash bounced the ball off his head and into Stoudemire's hands, only to throw it down with a monster dunk.
World football continues to leak over from across the Atlantic, and there are plenty of basketball players that have mad soccer skills.
This year would have been perfect to see Kobe Bryant juggle a basketball on his feet only to kick a pass up to Blake Griffin. Why not share some Los Angeles love?
Before Vince Carter started quitting on teams and generally not living up to his potential, he was flying.
He one-upped the JR Rider between the legs dunk by getting some help from Tracy McGrady. This is exactly what I want from the young guys going forward.
Don't worry about doing the same dunk, because we have a similar one here, but with the slightest tweak. As you can see, how you sell the dunk means everything.
Blake Griffin Goes Over a Car
This one has to be duplicated and then improved, because it wasn't perfect the first time around.
I will give you that it was amazing and something we will never forget, but we all know he went over the hood and slammed it down with one hand.
The dunk contest is all about improving on classics. Well, we have here a pretty awesome classic to improve on. The ball is now in the young guns' court to take on this task. I will be here waiting.
