Idle Thoughts From One Fan's Mind
Straight up! I wrote an article yesterday about how great the Bruins are at scoring and "finishing." Then they go out and lose to the Wild 1-0 at home. Give the Wild credit, they trapped the Killer B's to oblivion and came out of Boston with a "W" which has been rare for visiting squads this season.
Straight up! Another bowl loss for the Ohio State Buckeyes. I heard an interview with a Fiesta Bowl committee member on how great it was to to have the Buckeyes in Tempe Monday night. "The fans are fantastic, they show up in droves, and spend a lot of money in the area," blah, blah, blah. The OSU fans show up no doubt, now if they can get the team to show up.
How's this for an idea: Ohio State vs. Notre Dame in the "TMZ-Over-Hyped Bowl." I bet I could sell that sponsorship idea to TMZ.
The NCAA/BCS Football National Championship still hasn't been played. It's on January 7th. Think about that next time you hear an NCAA suit tell you that a play-off/bowl system can't/won't work because it will take the games too late into January.
Who the hell is BC to tell Jeff Jagodzinski that he can't interview for a pro head coaching job? I don't know what his contract implies, but this is the U-S-A. Land of opportunity and when a man can better himself in whatever career he is in he should be able to. It's not like BC has the Jets on their schedule the next 10 years.
I can't get out of my mind about the report the Stephon Marbury might be joining the World Champion Celtics. Forget the fact the Starbury is the "poster child" for everything that is wrong with today's over-priced athlete. And I am certainly not questioning his skills. And I know the Celtics have a history of bringing in "suspect" guys—Paul Silas, DJ-RIP. But what's wrong with Cassel and Gabe Pruitt? From what I've seen of Pruitt, he deserves the minutes. I'd have to see it to believe it, Starbury conforming to the Celtics' team concept.
The Yanks are reloading this winter with a vengeance, and everyone is losing their minds. Just because they're paying these guys does not punch their ticket to the post-season. Their paying the luxury tax and are within the rules of the collective bargaining agreement. Would you rather the Steinbrenner clan pocket the money?
I'm wondering if LT is bringing his bike to the play-off game Sunday to Pittsburgh. He had it Saturday night vs. the Colts, just like he did vs. New England in last year's AFC Championship. If I'm signing the checks in SD, I ask myself, why am I paying this guy?
