NFL Combine 2012: The Forgotten Quarterback, Robert Griffin III

Joshua CarrollJun 7, 2018

The NFL draft is slowly creeping up on us, but it is now when players must prove they can play the part at the NFL combine.

As Robert Griffin arrives in Indianapolis today, many people do not see him dropping lower than the fourth overall pick come April.

He's got the speed, athleticism and throwing arm to be a star in the NFL, yet the Heisman Trophy winner is often overshadowed by Andrew Luck.

The draft is filled with many playmakers, scary defenders and other proven skilled players, yet RG3 could end up having the best long-term career of them all.

He has shown the passion and desire for the game that not many other players have. Indeed, Griffin will shine bright at the combine as he showcases his athleticism and plans to "wow" the coaches with his interviews.

Most analysts and fans alike have Andrew Luck going No. 1 no matter what, yet nobody ever really talks about how hard it is to pass up a talent like Griffin. He can be compared to Michael Vick, possessing the ability to make plays with his strong arm and his speedy legs.

It has been reported that Griffin will not throw during the combine and he has received some criticism for that. However, the bottom line is that he showcased his arm all year long during the college football season. If that's not enough for GMs and head coaches, they will be sorry.

Another knock on Griffin would be his height. Slated between 6'1" and 6'2", he is a little short for the quarterback position and it's no secret that players only get faster and stronger in the NFL.

However, once again, we come back to the fact that there hasn't been a quarterback in the draft in a long time with the play-making abilities of Griffin. Coaches will likely look past his height without a problem.

He's a leader, a winner and a scary talent, and although he will likely not be the first quarterback selected on April 26, the team that is fortunate to add him to their roster will immediately shine a bright light on their future.
